Thanks for the clarification which explains why you don’t know what you’re talking about. You can now mind your own business. Thanks. |
Quick question smart guy. What was the AADT before and after adding lanes to 270? |
Yes. One more lane will allow thousands of more people to get where they are going. Funny that you think “the problem” is cars not being able to drive fast enough. |
| The above image is photoshopped, no highway has that many lanes. |
LOL, you are kidding, right? |
Go visit Texas, especially Houston where that picture likely was taken. |
That's exactly where it was taken. Why would peolple think it's photoshopped? It's Texas. https://www.chron.com/neighborhood/katy/news/article/Bragging-rights-or-embarrassment-Katy-Freeway-at-6261429.php |

The only part of 270 that needs an extra lane (primarily for slow-moving trucks) is the demolition derby stretch between Clarksburg and Urbana.
Further south I'd eliminate some the slip ramps between the local and thru lanes. This would go a long way towards reducing the constant and dangerous weaving. I don't see a compelling reason to widen 355. |

| So when are we extending 270s additional lane up to Urbana and two Frederick? |
| Have you seen the townhouse construction in Urbana/Clarksburg/Old Baltimore Road? The people moving into those townhouses are not going to ride bicycles to work. Whose idea was it to allow that to happen? |
It was Montgomery County’s idea. Because the county decided to ban “sprawl” it literally moved right across the border into Frederick making the problem worse. Talk about unintended consequences. |
Clarksburg, including West Old Baltimore Road, is in Montgomery County. Anybody who moved to Clarksburg expecting an easy solo driving commute on uncongested roads to the downcounty during peak driving times wasn't paying attention. |
Is there a reason why you seem so disproportionately animated about people who live in Clarksburg? Why does it make you so angry? |
Adding lanes doesn’t solve the problem because after we add lanes we continue to add housing. Should we stop building housing? Of course not! That’s a terrible idea. We should continue building housing and we should continue adding roads to accommodate the cars that the new housing generates. Smart growth is a good idea but we don’t do smart growth in Montgomery County. We do car-oriented growth, even near transit. That has nothing to do with parking minimums and everything to do with the profitability of providing on-site parking for new housing. |
