You realize that in other parts of the world, people actually walk and bike to do their shopping, right? It is only in the US where fat, lazy Americans toodle around in carbon spewing boxes to get their errands done. |
Traffic is better on I-270 now? Better than when? According to whom? |
This is true but we plowed under our dense cities in the 1950's in order to rebuild them as a suburban/exurban hellscapes. The solution is to destroy all SFH's in the suburbs and force people to move into high rises. |
While trying to sound smart and savvy, you reveal a lot of your ignorance. |
Democrats' utopia/dream for everyone:

I will ask again, please cite a single instance where widening a road has had the effect of reducing congestion on said road. |
Please show where my post is ignorant. |
Did I write this? The insanity of putting up homes (mostly townhomes) on every single square of available land has gotten completely out of control. I don't even know whose fault it is. I'd blame Elrich but it was a problem before he took over. |
It's multifaceted. Yes blame the county council & executive for the areas controlled by the county. They are approving the development of both multi-family housing and box stores/restaurants. But as you noted it often takes years (sometimes decades) for approved plans to actually come to fruition, so the blame goes back to whomever was running the show when the plans were approved. In some areas governed by towns/cities the blame is more local (Rockville, Takoma Park, Gaithersburg). But it has to be within city limits. Rockville is much smaller than most people realize. It doesn't start until Twinbrook Parkway on 355. Everything south of Twinbrook is county controlled. |

Design space for cars, you get traffic.
Design space for people, you get....people. Maybe it is time for the planners and politicians in Montgomery County to try something different. |
Explain the failure of Rockville Town Center then. Theyv'e designed it for people and it's been failing for years. It's even across the street from a Metro station. |
| 3:55 would be so much better if it was a fully limited access highway and leading from its beltway exit all the way up to Urbana. |
There were plans years ago for a Rockville Freeway but they got struck down: http://robertdyer.blogspot.com/2011/03/rockville-freeway-what-is-it-another.html |
They listened to people who said they wanted small local shops,,,that no one actaully shops at regualrly. Th elibrary is the only thing that gets me there regualry. CVS was useful but it just left. Its a shame as it really is a pleasant place. I think they need to just focus on restaurants. |
Rockville Town Center is great, but a bit small. |
