Manchin is a "thorn" in the Dem's side b/c he has no "discernible core ideology"

I’ve been thankful for him every day for 1.5 years. The rest of the Senate Dems want to score cheap points while passing legislation that is raising inflation.

You're already thanking him.

What percentage of America do you honestly envision thanking him?

He has a 57% approval rating in West Virginia - so I gather his state is.

No surprise that Manchin shot down Schumer and will not consider raising taxes on the wealthy or corporations. He received a million in campaign donations from oil and gas companies 2017-2020. He has financial holdings between 1-5 million in Enersystems, his private coal business in WV.

Manu Raju: How do you respond to the criticism from your colleagues that you strung them along for a entire year, and at the end of the day you pulled the plug?

Manchin: I never strung anyone along. I was the first one to raise the alarm on inflation. I’m worried about the person that can’t feed their family.

Manu Raju: It’s your financial ties to the coal industry that raises concerns.

Manchin big deflection: Ya know what? Everyone has a job, everyone has tried to make a living to provide for their family. If they want to criticize that and look for a reason— the bottom line is inflation.

Manu Raju: You keep hearing Republicans say you should just join their conference. What do you say to that?

Manchin: See you later!

One critic made it very clear. Senate Finance Chair Ron Wyden, whose committee had jurisdiction over the clean energy tax credits and corporate tax provisions, said in a statement, “Since nearly all issues in the climate and energy space had been resolved, this is our last chance to prevent the most catastrophic—and costly—effects of climate change. We can’t come back in another decade and forestall hundreds of billions—if not trillions—in economic damage and undo the inevitable human toll.” Manchin is disingenuously using … but inflation. His solution is to invest more in fossil fuel and continue lining his pockets. He doesn’t really give a sh!t about that person who can’t feed their family. He’s truly the worst kind of moderate. We need to gain 2+ senate seats to knock him down from his fake perch.

Why do American journalists cheerfully drop questions? Keep asking- how do you explain your ties to the energy industry??

It's funny how this works.....

When a Democrat veers from his/her party and votes in opposition to what their party wants, the press crucifies them.
When a Republican veers from his/her party and votes in opposition to what their party wants, he/she is hailed a hero by the media.

Probably most republican voters and a good number of independents. Definetely saved the country against even more ruinous progressive policies.

It is an extremely conservative state and the fact that Manchin is there instead of a R is somewhat of a miracle. Dems should focus on building a pipeline of stronger candidates in races that they can realistically win instead of complaining about Manchin.

Name something he’s done that we couldn’t have done without him.

Flipped two court circuits?

Put in place more liberal judges in a shorter amount time than any other period?

Nominated and supported Kentanji Jackson?

Passed the Infrastructure Act?

Another victory for Manchin
