Heres the link on policy locally: https://dcist.com/story/22/07/05/homeless-anti-discrimination-dc-human-rights/ I’m sure the folks at corporate saw this location as tainting their overall brand with homeless folks everywhere and crime and just closed it. This is sort of like how dc will now let folks with thousands of dollars of unpaid speeding tickets or violations renew their licenses. It’s stupid policy. In this case businesses are moving with their feet. |
What does that have to do with any of this? Frankly, I don't blame Gov Abbott and Texas at all. Why should they be the only ones who have to deal with this? |
You are naive beyond belief. |
Help getting to where they’re going. Lol. How about help getting back home and out of the country that they are illegally entering. |
Yeah it's all fun and games for you until someone breaks into your car |
What was the name of the nice bar/restaurant that was in there maybe 10 years ago? Is it still open if not what is that now? |
And you don't think people in Texas feel the same way??? Why should they have to bear this burden alone? The idiots who vote for Democrats are responsible for this problem, and there are a hell of a lot more of the, proportionally, in the DMV than there are in Texas. |
No, it's their burden because TX employers also massively benefit from exploiting undocumented labor. Texas also has all these racist redneck politicians who refuse to get immigration reform done, so it's really doubly on them. |
What are you talking about---I'm talking about Abbott playing chess with people's lives. It's a stunt on his part. That's what is despicable. DC needs to be a state so that the rest of the country realizes real people live here. I'm completely fine with DC taking them in, but I find it troubling that they're immediately shipped off on a days long journey when some of them may need medical attention and could rest. |
+1 I"m pp and sick of the narrative. I'm from CA, where everyone complains about "immigrants taking our jobs." When they don't bother to look at the companies employing them. Also, farms need laborers and Californians don't want the jobs. So, conundrum. |
There's a massive bathroom outside of Starbucks in the train station - I don't think there is even one in there. In many airport stalls like that they don't have one. So, perhaps it's not that reason. |
They all choose to go. No one forces them on a bus. |
Nope, sorry, that's not how it works. Employers across the country "massively benefit" from exploiting undocumented labor. I live right in the heart of DC and am sick about what is going on at Union Station, but I completely support Abbott in this. This horrible president has created a national disaster, on so many levels - humanitarian, national security, etc. It's only fair that we here in DC have to share the burden. |
Yep, that's why they all flock to Texas. |
