Union Station Starbucks Closing

There is such a duality to what's actually happening at Union Station I think many of you would be appalled if you actually knew what was happening there.
Google migrants bust to Union Station… Buses have been coming in twice per week filled with hungry people who have no idea of the next steps… Church groups and the Red Cross have been servicing whole families in the right lower restaurant level of union station… Some days it just makes me wanna cry

Sorry for all the bad grammar and the typos I'm using voice recognition because I'm so tired… I really don't like working there anymore… It's really bad.

Exactly. It's fast resembling a refugee camp. Cannot believe this has happened in just the last 2 years.

And I don't know what this new drug is that's out that's turning people into zombies but a lot of the people who are on drugs are on something that's literally making them defecate on themselves and pee on themselves and they'll literally do it anywhere it also makes them have these glazed over eyes and they literally look like walking dead it's worse than crack whatever it is they're on.

Meth literally ruins your brain permanently. It's not reversible once you stop using it, if you stop using it. It's different from other drugs. I don't know if that's what these people are taking but meth is really different, really bad.

Why are they trashing every one of our once great cities? This is happening across America. Who all is orchestrating this?

I'm not sure "orchestrating" is the right word, but this is an interesting question. I just spent a month traveling in major European cities - Vienna, Paris, Madrid, Berlin - and the difference is shocking. I can count the number of homeless people I saw on one hand, and the cities themselves are so much cleaner.

Yes, but there are also legit safety issues in the locations they've picked. I don't even take the train to NY anymore because I don't want to deal with Union Station, especially at night.

+1 union station and the train was wonderful in the ‘80s+ after the renovation. Such a pathetic site now, and a disgrace to the city leaders to let it happen.

Exactly. They seem to want DC trashed. Why?

They’re planning a big expansion. Not of the historic building, but north of the building toward H street, and where the parking garage is. They may be letting it go in order to make a better case they need federal $ to fix it up again.

But I also read that the business that is the landlord for all the shops and stuff there is bankrupt and hasn’t been maintaining the place. It shows.

I saw some pictures of the new Union Station - they would be leaving the old part alone? I thought they were going to be replacing the entire station. That's good to hear that they'll only be expanding the "new" part. Eventually.

Much of it is historically protected and could not be torn down.

Wow. It sounds like a massive money laundering scheme in the making.

Interesting. This would clear out a lot of the homeless camps in the area.

I’m at Union Station a lot. The covered arcade area in front of the station is bad. We got followed by an aggressive dude the other day. The food court also not great. The inside and concourse are pretty much under control.
