Take kids to pool while on period

Slide it in following the “natural path” of your vagina. Go slowly and relax your muscles. Push the thin part of the applicator upwards slowly into the thicker part that is fully inserted. Once the tampon is inside your vagina, pull out the applicator (both pieces of plastic).

If it is not inserted deeply enough or you are not on your period it will likely feel dry and uncomfortable. Just the string should be hanging outside of your vagina.

This is an important part of tampon insertion that often young women (and older newbies I guess) overlook. You don't insert straight up into your body, you insert diagonally back.

Also like the PP said, if it's uncomfortable once inserted (basically if you can feel it at all), it's not in far enough.

Op here. We just come back from pool. Thank you who recommend tampax pearl & tips. It was a success on my 2nd try. I tested it since yesterday to make sure that I did it right and no leaking. The only thing bother me was the pull out string part was a little bit hurt, not painful.

Anyways, thank you for making this work for me.

It's not because we are ignorant people, or prudish, or don't want to buy Tampax Pearls. If you had a difficult delivery, you can lose part or all of your pelvic floor on one or both sides. You then cannot hold a tampon or a cup - you are permanently wider. The muscle is not there, so there is a gap. Second, if you have pelvic organ prolapse, the prolapsed organ/organs can push your tampons out.

There are also other forms of pelvic floor dysfunction that make using a tampon hard. People can have super tight pelvic floor muscles from trauma or other things, for example.

Educate yourselves. Understanding how your pelvic floor works and doing simple exercises, as a previous poster indicated, has other benefits like greater core strength, better sex, less or no leaking, etc.

Here is a way to get started. https://www.nichd.nih.gov/health/topics/pelvicfloor

This is NOT her problem. How about you read the post and educate yourself? Are you offended this much in real life about things that don't involve you?

This. And OP needs to just free herself and wear the freaking tampon. Women spending 1/4 of their lives sitting things out because they have their period is so ridiculously medieval and stupid see also, wearing a giant blood filled pad in your panties.

Good job OP! It’s so much better.

How do you have sex...?

I can't fathom never having used a tampon - are you from a culture that finds them dirty?

Lots of options with the silk applicators...

A lot of people don't use tampons, PP. Try to be a kinder, less judgmental person.

BNTCH.

Which is gross. If it’s leakproof to not allow the blood to come out in the water, then the blood isn’t coming out in the wash.

I'm glad it worked out for you, OP!

You did well OP! I don't like tampons either-but I do tolerate them so I can go to the pool.

I went to the pool with a mom who had her period. I had to care for her kids who were fighting and splashing other kids. I was so beyond annoyed at her and her lack of tampon use.

If OP has gotten to the age of her life where she has two children and takes trips, then I think it's fair to assume she's tried tampons more than once and for whatever reason they just don't work for her.

It's not actually fair to assume that when she states exactly the opposite.

"Op here. I did c section, so I did not have vaginal birth. I have never used a tampon. I tried one time, and it was unsuccessful and hurt. It’s a matter of personal preference. I think a lot of people prefer plastic applicators, but I prefer the cardboard applicators, Tampax brand. I tend to use the largest I can find, but you might want to start with a smaller size. My first time, my mom told me when she started using them, she hated them because she hadn’t inserted it far enough. You have to push the absorbent part fully into the vagina and then pull the string enough do that it is seated against, but not wedged into the vaginal opening. As for the dryness, the period itself should provide enough moisture for lubrication.

I know it’s awkward and uncomfortable at first, but giving birth is really irrelevant. Frankly, assuming you’ve ever had sex, the relative size of a tampon should be minor.

Good luck, OP. I hope it works out for you.

Yes! Finding the cardboard applicators now is almost impossible!

Try the Tampax pearl ones, that what I used as a teen (I now use a cup). Regular flow, smooth plastic applicator. The blood should work as a lubricant but it can feel dry if your period is very light.

Agree with the Pearl and only use tampons during the heaviest flow. If you have light flow just use liners (not in pool, obviously). Other tampons feel dry and kinda ragged. Although I had a csection and find i cannot really use tampons anymore.

Ask you husband how he inserts his penis, same principle. It is hard to believe there is a grown woman who cannot figure how to insert a tampon!

If it's fitting in a place too small for a tampon, then that husband has a micropenis.

I'm sorry, OP. But he is lucky to have you. I hope he realizes it.
