Op here. I did c section, so I did not have vaginal birth. I have never used a tampon. I tried one time, and it was unsuccessful and hurt. It was so tight and dry down there that I can't figure out how to insert it. I am petite and small, can someone recommend me a tampon brand that is easy to use. I will try it again.
Try the Tampax pearl ones, that what I used as a teen (I now use a cup). Regular flow, smooth plastic applicator. The blood should work as a lubricant but it can feel dry if your period is very light.
Agree with the Pearl and only use tampons during the heaviest flow. If you have light flow just use liners (not in pool, obviously). Other tampons feel dry and kinda ragged. Although I had a csection and find i cannot really use tampons anymore.
