The Summer I Turned Pretty

My daughter is watching this and I'm like

Just be glad your daughter is watching this and not euphoria. This is pretty PG as far as teen drama goes.

However, worth watching for those boys. Swoon...

Are dads watching for a hot Asian?

The main character makes so many bad choices and I feel like they completely changed the two love interests personalities from the first two seasons in order to get to a certain ending (I'm spoiled from online synopsis of the book ending).

I’m finding the new season hard to watch.

First of all, Conrad is the only compelling actor on the show. He gives me major Pacey vibes - he is carrying the show. The rest of the cast is insufferable. Oh my god especially Taylor, who sounds exactly like a valley girl like Kristin Cavalleri. Did the actor who plays Stephen ever take an acting class? I have to fast forward through all of his sciences because he is so cringe to watch.

Secondly it’s aggravating to watch belly + Jeremiah together when she clearly loves Conrad. Belly and Jeremiah have no chemistry - painful to watch when the option of Conrad is right there.

Are you 12? Because I cannot imagine a full grown adult caring which brother Belly swings between, the plot is beyond stupid..

The shows audience is 35% millennials! Sadly I am an invested full grown adult. I love a good coming of age love story.

You’d rather all adults only watch true crime shows? Let people enjoy mindless candy if want to!

I am so jealous of the friendship between Susannah and Laurel.

Oof, I'm reading the subreddit for the show and there's so much vitriol for Belly. I like the drama for what it is and don't actually despise any of the characters as people, even if they make dumb mistakes.

I mostly agree with this though Conrad has been pretty one-note with his brooding.

And what's with Taylor's mom becoming a storyline? I would take out the whole Taylor-Steven storyline. Maybe they just need filler?

I'd like to see more Laurel. And more growth for all the characters!

I liked the first season. The second got worse. But now, ugh, the dialogue is so stilted and the actors seem to pause in between exchanges in a conversation. so I don't know why I'm still watching this, but....

Agree that Taylor's mom is a weird thing to include.

I'm annoyed that Belly's father didn't come.

What the heck does Steven want to build? I'm annoyed that they made his manager's personality like that.

That was a stupid time for Belly to make that announcement.

Now I want a seafood tower.

+1. You have a straight A student at Stanford who is studying to be a doctor, looks like a 90s Leo DiCaprio, has not glanced at another girl for 4 years and is still pining for you, and you choose the frat boy super senior man-child who cheated on you? So so stupid.

I hate the title and I hate the (nick) name Belly

Interesting comments, given that I actually find Conrad to be the worst actor! Any depth he has is because of the moody nature of the character. I actually think the actress who plays Taylor is the best -- she's convincing as the loyal BFF with the heart-of-gold-buried-under-the-superficial-persona. Shades of Summer Roberts from the OC.

I want their beach house.

Such a cheesy show. I wish they picked better actors. The boys are awful.

Yes!! Like others I don’t care about Taylor’s mom but I think Taylor herself is awesome. Both the actress and the character are great.
