The Summer I Turned Pretty

I only watched the first 4 episodes and then couldn't stand the whole debutante thing because it was so stupid.
However, worth watching for those boys. Swoon...

I thought the title said "The summer I turned Petty". It hooked me as relatable for a second.

I thought the Jeremy guy was a good actor. His face showed so much emotion.

Conrad was in a tough place because it's hard to seem like a good actor when your character is so brooding. Maybe he's naturally a little wooden and stoic, or maybe he was just acting, who knows?

Just like Laurel didn't seem like a great actor, but maybe it was because her character was also carrying something heavy plus naturally being uptight.

Belly seemed about right for a girl that age, and I'm glad she realized at the end how self absorbed she had been, but I agree with pp's that they should have filled out her character more to make it clearer why so many people were falling for her. More flashbacks, maybe. More Latin.

I found Taylor the best friend annoying.

Cam Cameron was the coolest one!

+1

Yes! This! Please!

I didn’t read the books either. I would be sad if they couldn’t just have a loving, genuine friendship though. There’s no need for them to be inlove with each other.

I think Laurel wants S to work it out with her husband for the sake of the kids. I think the two moms have something but decided it could never happen.

Does anyone know if Cotillions happen in Beach communities like this? How true to life is that part of the story?

maybe you should watch all of it and especially season 2 EP 6 and 7 then you'll see the point of the title. What's the saying don't judge a book by it's cover?!

Anonymous wrote:No. It's a godawful title that sets us all back 70 years.

Women spend billions of dollars trying to look pretty but are offended by the title.

I will never understand why this book was popular because it is literally the most stupid plot of all time.

Yes, but it is very aggravating...

The main character makes so many bad choices and I feel like they completely changed the two love interests personalities from the first two seasons in order to get to a certain ending (I'm spoiled from online synopsis of the book ending).

so the moms 100% condone underage drinking? Aren't these kids 16? And joking in front of their moms about getting drunk and peeing in the fireplace.

My daughter is watching this and I'm like

I’m finding the new season hard to watch.

First of all, Conrad is the only compelling actor on the show. He gives me major Pacey vibes - he is carrying the show. The rest of the cast is insufferable. Oh my god especially Taylor, who sounds exactly like a valley girl like Kristin Cavalleri. Did the actor who plays Stephen ever take an acting class? I have to fast forward through all of his sciences because he is so cringe to watch.

Secondly it’s aggravating to watch belly + Jeremiah together when she clearly loves Conrad. Belly and Jeremiah have no chemistry - painful to watch when the option of Conrad is right there.
