Would it be possible for a teen to have no access to any social media until college?

I don't see how it is possible. Can't they access YouTube on their school computers? they could last year.

Also, not advisable. They need to have some exposure to social media to figure out how to be responsible and not go crazy on it.

Parents who do this seem to have an idea that a kid at age 18 will be mature and make smart decisions when never having to face any decision previously. It doesn’t actually work that way.

Yeah, all the Conservative restricted kids go CRAZY in college, right? Could you be any more cliche. You know who goes crazy in college? Sexual assault victims and kids who did anything they wanted in high school. Stop spreading your fake disinformation to rationalize why you’re a crummy pushover parent.

I’ve heard this is a bit of a fallacy. I’m not saying it means go to the extreme of the parent noted here. But this idea that we can somehow teach a 16 year old to be responsible with something that 35 year olds have a very difficult time managing (and is literally set up to be addictive) is probably not realistic or a good reason to give your kid access to social media/phones that can do anything/everything at a young age. This mom sounds delusional with the YouTube etc but trying to wait as long as you can is gaining some speed - there is the wait til 8th group for example. There are soo many negatives that come with the social media I’m not sure parents really understand (work with teens but my kids are younger so I will claim nothing about what I will do myself as I realize I know very little yet!)
