I’m not saying it means go to the extreme of the parent noted here. But this idea that we can somehow teach a 16 year old to be responsible with something that 35 year olds have a very difficult time managing (and is literally set up to be addictive) is probably not realistic or a good reason to give your kid access to social media/phones that can do anything/everything at a young age. This mom sounds delusional with the YouTube etc but trying to wait as long as you can is gaining some speed - there is the wait til 8th group for example. There are soo many negatives that come with the social media I’m not sure parents really understand (work with teens but my kids are younger so I will claim nothing about what I will do myself as I realize I know very little yet!)
