Nobody is talking about triangle tops. The “bikini” tops for kids are cropped tankinis, the same shape as a sports bra.

Why are you covering little girls nipples and not the boys if not because they are sexualized. Doesn't matter if it is triangles or tankini.

Only covering because they cannot be in a DC pool without it. I think it’s crazy personally, but I don’t want my girls to get cold with all the wet big shirts on their body… so I choose the smallest bikini I can find.

Because this country is puritanical and I don’t want to deal with busybodies saying anything to her about her being topless and making her feel ashamed. So she wears a small top.

Pool employees who made my (at the time) 3 year old pull her swimsuit back up after I had lowered it so she would not be wet and cold… I was disgusted to be honest and left immediately.

But that’s the difference. In our country, bikinis are considered sexy. Which is why they don’t belong on prepubescent children.

They are sexy if you think children can be sexy and are aroused by watching them naked, in bikini, with clothes, etc. (and therefore belong in jail).
From the dictionary:
sexy (adj.)
marked by or tending to arouse sexual desire or interest.

Do you think the sick person who thinks 6 year old are sexy won’t think so because she is wearing a one piece swimsuit? Trust me… he will.

Different Brazilian here. I will never understand this mentality. Little girls in bikinis look as sexy as flamingos in bikinis.

No, I am one of those Europeans up thread. Those shows exist only in this country and I find them ridiculous and boring. My girls are into sports and academics (in that order)… but nice try

Different Brazilian here. I will never understand this mentality. Little girls in bikinis look as sexy as flamingos in bikinis.

American here and +1 to this statement. Let them wear whatever they want.

But the reason they want to wear that is that they are mimicking grown women who ARE trying to be sexy.

This is not true AT ALL. My girls think boobs are disgusting and they never want to grow up. So no, they are not trying to be sexy. Perhaps your daughter is, but definitely not mine or the other girls I know
