And yet when the republicans storm and defile the Capitol they are heroes?

Yet another strawman. No one has called that group of thugs heroes, dimwit.

Uh they have been sentenced to prison.

Not only is it tired but PP didn’t quite it correctly- it’s about clenching and unclenching pearls. A properly strong string of pearls can’t be “released”.

Was it even actually Georgetown or is this thread pathetic?

Do you understand what a strawman is? Doesn't look like it.

OMG, so literal. "Release the pearls" simply means unclench them. Wow.

Clutch your pearls is an idiom. Release your pearls is not. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/clutch-your-pearls

I guess you didn't get the "so literal" hint. Oh well.

"Clutch" not "clench." And if they can be clutched, they can be released.

Christ, people seem more fired up this than about the storming of the Capitol and killing of a police officer.

Such irony.

There is one poster that trashes GU any chance he/she gets. The fact of the matter is that post-graduation college celebrations involve a lot of booze and a lot of a trash no matter where the University is located.

This was very mild to the destruction that happened in the college town where my University was located.

Some trash and broken bottles---have you ever been to the National Mall after a 4th of July Celebration?

Now if they had spray painted Lincoln or the steps I would agree with you. This was broken bottles. You can't even walk down parts of DC or NYC in the middle of the day without stepping around those.

I suggest you come to Clarendon on a Sunday morning and see what the JMU, Tech and UVA students leave behind in their all night partying---and these are post-college professionals.

I have not seen one post championing the Jan 6 riot. Both can be wrong, trying to act like it's not and invoking JMU, Tech and UVA into the mix is very strange.

And, yes, they were Georgetown grads. There is video.

Brats.

This happened on Friday night, and Georgetown’s graduation was on Saturday. How do you know it was Georgetown (and not George Mason- who did have graduation on Friday)?!

To begin with, the Georgetown Senior Class Committee tweeted a statement of regret about the actions of “a small number” of their students.

But also, this is an annual Georgetown tradition. The senior class watches the sunrise while trashing the Memorial and then graduates. Media outlets just picked it up this year because of the Centennial this weekend.

GMU? Seriously?

When did they start watching the sunrise? I graduated in '93 and we didn't do this. (I wish we did, minus the trash, to be honest.)

I am doubting that this was all Georgetown students.
