Nah, my mom would have been T-Bird.

This is unacceptable obviously

But weird this many kids partied this hard and … the park police, who are everywhere, didn’t do anything?

Maybe they did but it is weird. Not some secluded place

Ummm, cuz weathly white kids get to play by different rules, face zero consequences and are used to everyone else cleaning up their mess? #privilege. Substitute G'Town students for Howard and tell me this would have been allowed.

My aunt moved out of a gorgeous Georgetown townhouse that she had lived in for decades because of the havoc Georgetown students brought upon that neighborhood. Irresponsible, selfish and entitled sums it up well.

They are chronically underfunded, often short-staffed and responsible for too much territory as a result. Like the police who cover the MD side of Great Falls Park are based out of Hagerstown!

How do we know this was an authorized event?

I’m a Georgetown alum and agree that the behavior at the Lincoln Memorial is totally unacceptable and that the school should hold the students responsible for this accountable (I like PP’s suggestion), but I’ve never understood people who choose to live in West Georgetown and then complain about the students. The university has been there since 1789, and it’s not surprising that college students are going to act like college students. Not excusing property damage or harrassment or anything like that, but loud/obnoxious behavior at night or on the weekends and drunkenness are to be expected. I wouldn’t live around there now exactly for that reason.

Former West Georgetown resident. if it was noise there are earplugs. These students’ parties routinely got out of hand, bottles thrown, drunk urinating on stoops, trash and rotting food. Porches vandalized. Community has been through the wringer. The university rules are toothless. This is NOT normal college highjinks.

What business is it of GT what happens off campus?

This is the fault of the meeting planners who did not provide adequate garbage receptacles and post gathering cleaning.

But yeah it sucks.

What makes you think this was an organized event? Sound like a bunch of kids partying on their own.

I feel like someone posted this same thing last year.

As PP pointed out, the Lincoln Memorial is a target for terrorism. At a bare minimum, someone should be monitoring the feeds from all the cameras on the mall. Plus, the Memorial is very visible. If you are anywhere between the Washington Monument and the Memorial, you should be able to see and hear a party.

It’s not like the NPS have a great record in DC. Agree with PP. if this were a Howard graduation party, there would have been arrests— and probably a dead 22 year old Black Man.

Hope these “kids” are held accountable.

This occurred to me afterwards.....I'm guessing it wasn't.
