| Those Georgetown students should be out there in the 100 degree weather cleaning up the mess they made. Not just paying for it. |
You are proving PP’s point. These kids are not on campus. They are in expensive residential neighborhoods—not some playground for spoiled adolescents. It is literally illegal to disturb these resident all night, pee in their front yard, etc. Not “to be expected.” How were you raised?? |

I was raised just fine. If you had read my post, you would have clearly seen that I’m not defending or justifying illegal behavior, whether it takes place in an “expensive residential neighborhood” or not. My point is that this particular “expensive residential neighborhood” has directly abutted a university for literally centuries, so it’s not a secret that college students are there and anyone with half a brain can predict how college students will behave. It’s their neighborhood too, so it’s pretty ridiculous to choose to buy a home there and then complain nonstop about the university and its students. Behavior that is actually illegal (like public urination and property damage) shouldn’t be tolerated obviously but it’s not illegal for drunk students to be walking and making noise around the area at all hours of the night. I agree it’s an annoyance if you’re an adult with real responsibilities (which I am now), so I wouldn’t live in the immediate vicinity of the university. But if you do, you’re assuming the risk to some extent. It’s very obviously not a quiet suburb and the purchase price of your home doesn’t dictate that. And anyone choosing to live in West Georgetown has other options. As someone who attended Georgetown many years ago and lived in one of those off-campus houses for a few years, we were always told to be respectful and were warned about fines and disciplinary action if we did things like break the trash pickup rules or cause damage to neighbors’ homes. It’s of course possible that they aren’t enforcing that as strictly as they should, and if that’s the case I agree they should be more diligent. |
| Idk, what does it look like after July 4th? |
| Sounds like much ado about nothing much. It was reopened before noon. |
| Who do these people think is going to pick up the trash? Gross. Please teach your kids and young adults that they need to throw away their own garbage for goodness sake. |
| Are people sure it was Georgetown? Soooooo many students have been there the last few weekends for graduation and prom photos/celebrations. Just look at IG for tagged Lincoln Memorial |
| I thought OP was going to say there was graffiti and the like. Where were the park police last night? Why weren't they doing their jobs and policing the area and sending these kids home? |

So if this post was about Wilson kids or any other public school in the area - all of you posters would be on tiptoes. Catholic schools at every level ignite nasty blowback like no other affiliation.
Huh. What would happen if we did that with other groups? |
Oh, know we are Catholic-bashing??? I swear, DCUM is better than a rorschach test for identifying people's underlying baggage! |
| Federal property so federal crime for any kids who are caught. |
You’re joking, right? Trashing Wilson is a regular sport here. —Wilson parent |
Actually no. This was not an elementary school graduation this was Georgetown. The school should put out a statement entitled brats. The should not get a permit next year. I’m tired if the excuses for piss poor behavior. |
So you are saying that what Georgetown did was fine? And people who think otherwise are anti-Catholic? Well, I’m Catholic and this is not fine. And would not be fine if American, GMU, Wilson, TJ or any other school did it. But, they didn’t and Georgetown did. |
