Why is the Press Rooting Against Biden?

Anonymous
The thing about the media generally is that negativity is part of their business model, and it's not scalable. Make a policy decision that kills 10,000 people or fail to follow best document retention practices, and the overall negative coverage ends up being about the same temperature.

Also, the Biden administration boring compared to the Trump administration and news outlets have to work harder to get eyeballs.

No. The press is free, even during war. And we are not fighting a war, so double no.

Yes, we are. We are making massive contributions in military equipment, training, logistical support, intelligence support, humanitarian aid and assistance in Ukraine's war against Russia.

That's not the same thing as sending our people into combat.

You send your family members first

I am a combat veteran. Im saying that we are not at war yet.

Then you more than most understand that in these horrifying times, as the President stands alone in leading a unified coalition in fighting the Russians, that a united front is necessary to crush them. Part of that united front is ensuring the press supports the administration’s messaging. Anything else is almost traitorous.

DP.
Sorry. You people throw out "traitor" at the drop of a hat. We pretty much ignore your whining at this point.
We live in a free country with a relatively free press. Unless they publish national security secrets that could compromise some action, they are certainly free to criticize the president and his decisions.

He has made many mistakes WRT the war Russia has waged on Ukraine. He used threats of sanctions as "deterrence" that didn't work, then claimed that they weren't intended as deterrence. (We have the video of many of his administration - including the VP - that they WERE intended as deterrence.) He has been late to send weaponry and supplies to Ukraine. Intelligence was pretty damn confident that Russia was going to invade, so why wait until AFTER they invaded to send weaponry? And, the reason for not sending them MIGS is just stupid. Offensive vs. defensive weapons? Please. Anything we send them is defensive at this point since they were invaded.

And, you make it sound as if Biden is the only one leading. Actually, he is not leading at all. He has been 3 steps behind.

Substitute "Nazis" for "Russia", and this statement could have come right out of the Kremlin.

F'ed what up exactly?

On "Russian Collusion" no, there wasn't smoking gun blockbuster produced with Trump and Putin in a smoke filled room making secret deals.

But in the absence of that, the right wing pretends "nothing happened, it's all a huge lie."

But that isn't at all the case. Remember, there were 34 indictments that came out of Mueller's investigation before he was pulled back and shut down, including senior Trump campaign officials and including Russian officials. Not to mention, our IC DID find evidence of Russian attempts at tampering with our election, but every time it was brought up, Trump and his army of MAGAs would start screaming and pushing back - effectively aiding Putin.

And then the matter of the Steele Dossier, which the right wing called "dodgy" and pretended the entire thing was a lie yet when it was repeatedly pointed out that a good 80% plus of the Dossier was NOT "dodgy" as it was independently corroborated as true, the right wing again quietly pooh-pooed it saying "yeah well that's all known open source info" essentially admitting to the many Russia connections in Trump's business and personal life.

And we still have SO MANY other unresolved issues and questions, like what exactly transpired in the 2 hour meeting Trump had with Putin behind closed doors, with no transcript made available? We still deserve answers.

And now here you are, again trying to pretend that the media lied about EVERYTHING Russia, when that is not at all the case. And, when any of these questions are raised, you all shriek "RUSSIA COLLUSION! FAKE NEWS!" and completely shut down, again AIDING Putin.

+1
The GOP was and is absolutely working with Russia. If Republicans don’t understand this, and keep pivoting back to the Steele Dossier as if it is the only piece of evidence of this, it’s because they dwell only in the dodgiest of the far right media. The “mainstream” media is against Biden, but more or less uses facts and bias. The far right wing media left fact based behind a while ago.

How exactly is the GOP “working” with Russia?

Facts, please.

The big problem is that we’re all so saturated in Putin’s propaganda that it’s hard for us to see that we’re eating and breathing propaganda.

Putin is doing everything he can to tank Biden. There seem to be people in this thread who are implementing that strategy here.

Biden wants to sail the world past the risk of all-out nuclear war. He’s a strong man who’s sacrificing his dignity to keep us from glowing.

The Putinites, meanwhile, want to goad him into taking an action that they can use as an excuse to nuke Washington and New York. They’re trying to paint him as being old, weak, slow, indecisive, etc.

Reporters go on Reddit or Twitter, or they pick up The Nation, and they see chatter about how weak Biden is. But they mostly aren’t very sophisticated social media users, and they have no idea that a lot of what they see is fake. They understand that John085532 who started using Twitter is fake, but they don’t understand that The Nation is just a classy, print version of John085532.

3 steps behind? You are far too invested in this SleepyJoe nonsense. He was 3 steps ahead of most world leaders as well as the State Department in correctly calling what Russia is doing to Ukrainian civilians "genocide" and 3 steps ahead of DoD when they said "no MI-17 helicopters" with Biden saying, "wrong, DoD - yes we damn well are sending the MI-17's. Start loading them."
