They really f'ed up with the whole laptop story. They also f'ed up with the whole 3 years of Russian collusion. And, their coverage of the riots during the summer of 2020 was horrendous.
At some point, they have to start cozying up with the actual truth. Things are not going well in the country or internationally.
Media credibility is at an all time low. Perhaps they are finally recognizing that they have to start being honest with the American people who consume their news.

On "Russian Collusion" no, there wasn't smoking gun blockbuster produced with Trump and Putin in a smoke filled room making secret deals.

But in the absence of that, the right wing pretends "nothing happened, it's all a huge lie."

But that isn't at all the case. Remember, there were 34 indictments that came out of Mueller's investigation before he was pulled back and shut down, including senior Trump campaign officials and including Russian officials. Not to mention, our IC DID find evidence of Russian attempts at tampering with our election, but every time it was brought up, Trump and his army of MAGAs would start screaming and pushing back - effectively aiding Putin.

And then the matter of the Steele Dossier, which the right wing called "dodgy" and pretended the entire thing was a lie yet when it was repeatedly pointed out that a good 80% plus of the Dossier was NOT "dodgy" as it was independently corroborated as true, the right wing again quietly pooh-pooed it saying "yeah well that's all known open source info" essentially admitting to the many Russia connections in Trump's business and personal life.

And we still have SO MANY other unresolved issues and questions, like what exactly transpired in the 2 hour meeting Trump had with Putin behind closed doors, with no transcript made available? We still deserve answers.

And now here you are, again trying to pretend that the media lied about EVERYTHING Russia, when that is not at all the case. And, when any of these questions are raised, you all shriek "RUSSIA COLLUSION! FAKE NEWS!" and completely shut down, again AIDING Putin.

Then you more than most understand that in these horrifying times, as the President stands alone in leading a unified coalition in fighting the Russians, that a united front is necessary to crush them. Part of that united front is ensuring the press supports the administration’s messaging. Anything else is almost traitorous.

W was granted nothing but the most glowing press. Nothing he or his administration said was questioned, anyone who asked questions risked serious consequences. The press is, to put it charitably, using a double standard for Biden, and it bears repeating that this is because the owners of the press are aligned with the GOP. It’s mind numbingly dumb for people to pretend that Biden is so unpopular when these same people ignore the fact that the media has been on a campaign against Biden since summer of 2021.

The GOP was and is absolutely working with Russia. If Republicans don’t understand this, and keep pivoting back to the Steele Dossier as if it is the only piece of evidence of this, it’s because they dwell only in the dodgiest of the far right media. The “mainstream” media is against Biden, but more or less uses facts and bias. The far right wing media left fact based behind a while ago.
