If COVID affected everyone like it affects 0-5 year olds we would never have implemented any measures at all. Kids have been masked to prevent spread to others the whole time. That’s a choice that was made. But to pretend that we can’t unmask now because of the 2-5s themselves? That’s lunacy and a lie. If you have an immunocompromised 2-5 and/or at risk family members living in your house? Put your kid in an N95. That is way more protective than pretend masks on all kids. My husband is an ER doctor and is more or less bathed in COVID all day and no COVID. N95 for the win.

So much lunacy and lying in one post, hard to know where to start. Masks even cotton ones assist in filtering out COVID and other particles, and assist in blocking transmission: https://journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mSphere.00637-20. Can't wait to see the receipts of your donations of N95 for kids who can't be vaccinated....still waiting, Mde. Hypocrite. Since you are so worried about the flu, I guess you also support mandatory flu vaccines and masking during flu season?

COVID is far more likely to result in pneumonia, hospitalization, and serious complications than the flu: https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/patient-safety-outcomes/covid-19-in-kids-tied-to-more-complications-than-flu.html. I get that you think that your kids b/c of your privilege are shielded from dying of COVID. But many parents a) get that their kids could be the unlucky ones; or b) unlike you, actually care about other people's kids.

NP. You must be talking about your own post.

Ok, Trumpette.

So preschoolers should mask forever??? Because even if they can get vaccinated, doesn’t mean they won’t catch covid.

+1. Also doesn’t seem like the vaccine is going to happen in the near future, so they should mask forever? A group of preschoolers wearing cloth masks isn’t filtering out much since the majority don’t wear them properly. I am a teacher and most of my 1st graders don’t mask well enough to make a difference. We’ve been mask free for a few weeks and COVID isn’t ripping though our school.

So all those people who claimed they were spreading doses out, or were waiting for more data were lying?

Well, the new data that has come in since then hasn’t been great… not sure what I would do if I hadn’t already vaccinated my kids in November.

LOL, no surprise that would be your comeback. You don’t know how far off you are.

Ok, Trumpette.

You are actively pushing policies that will hurt Democratic candidates in the midterms, so I wonder about your own motives.

I’m old enough to remember when advocating for in-person schooling for my kindergartner made me a racist trump supporter. I will never vote republican because I’m not a one issue voter. But I feel utterly betrayed by the progressive dems I voted for pre pandemic.

Actually if you need the new regulations. It’s a good thing your kid was vaccinated. If there is a positive in thr classroom every child who is unvaccinated will have to quarantine (masked or unmasked - doesn’t matter). The exception it’s pre-K test to return.

I don’t regret vaccinating my kids, but I hope everyone realizes how terrible and absurd it is that we should be glad to have given our children a vaccine because of policies rather than an actual medical need to protect them…

Wow fragile much

If you have the confidence of your convictions why do you care about name calling.

NP. What a weird response. You are completely missing the PP‘s point, but I guess that’s no surprise.

I’ll bite even though I think you’re a troll. I care about name-calling because I think it affects policy. The minute Trump advocated for open schools, the dems decided to shut them. I’m not stupid enough to think that republicans care about kids and families, but I was stupid enough to think that dems did.

Look at the progressive dems running in DC this year. Robert White, Zachary Parker, Erin Palmer for City Council chair… all disastrously bad on school reopening, masking, crime, you name it. And I am a liberal democrat involved in the party!

Oh yes. Phil Mendelson has an excellent record on schools. Did you see his Facebook live? Keep it moving Muriel

I’m not seeing support for Mendelson or Bowser in this little side discussion. I’m seeing disappointment in all of these clowns.
