Anti-science people like this need to be treated the same way as climate change deniers.

Entitled and arrogant too; as if she gets to decide.

That is the stupidest thing I've read. It's not like COVID is gone. It's still around, and still very contagious.

Did you mean if they haven't gotten the vaccine? Because I bet that kids who don't have it will get it if it's mandatory, unless they don't get other mandatory vaccines. Especially if pediatrician's offices are administering it.

She should find another job then. And read a science book.

QUIT then! Teachers who don't understand science should split.

Now I'm waiting on our charter to follow suit. Not sure it's going to happen.

" Later today, DCPS Chancellor Lewis Ferebee is expected to announce that DCPS will make masks optional for the remainder of the school year. This decision is in alignment with DC Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.
After learning of the updated Department of Health Guidelines after the Representative Assembly meeting on Tuesday and speaking with Building Representatives across the city, the WTU leadership made the decision to not oppose this decision, but we will remain vigilant. We know that many communities still lag behind in their rates of vaccination and our youngest learners are not yet eligible to be vaccinated. We are continuing to push DCPS to:
• Increase the vaccination rate of all students;
• Continue tracking school and community transmission rates and be ready to pivot back to masks if cases go up especially where vaccination rates are low in accordance with the CDC’s latest guidelines.
• Put protocols in place to ensure students are not shamed for wearing or not wearing masks.
The city also remains obligated to continue to adhere to the protocols and procedures outlined in our MOAs, including COVID testing, monitoring HVAC systems in schools, cleaning protocols, and timely reporting of cases in school communities. We will ensure they meet their obligations to you and our students.
We encourage you to contact your Field Representatives if you have any questions.
In Solidarity,
Jacqueline Pogue Lyons, President
Washington Teachers’ Union"

The fact that she's still fussing about enhanced cleaning really reduces her credibility.

You don’t know DCPS at all if you think they will mandate and enforce that next year for under 12s. The optics around equity and access to school will end political careers. Not happening folks.

It will help to curb norovirus transmission, which I personally find more important.

Sure against infection, but 3x higher rate of hospitalization among unvaxxed kids vs. vaxxed kids. I'll take those odds, and did- mine were vaxxed by end of November.

Pretty sure this PP meant if they haven't gotten the vaccine yet, they aren't getting it.

Yeah. A 3x higher rate of a ridiculously small hospitalization rate. It your kid is healthy the vaccine is worthless because your kid would have been fine anyhow. My kids eligible kids are vaccinated but they probably have better immunity from actually having COVID. I don’t see this vaccine getting full authorization.

Precisely. I'm sure it'll end well when the front page of the Washington Post has an article about how DC kicked a bunch of black kids out of school.

It won’t even get that far, they won’t try.
