It doesn't matter where you ranked. As a parent you are happy for your DC and your DC is happy. That is the most important thing in the world. 99% of its population are good people and don't let 1% ruin it for us. In our eyes our kids are given the best and understands right vs. wrong. Its on to them to get a good education and make the world a better place. In 20 years it won't matter where your child went to college. It is what they grow up to be!

I graduated in early 2000s and while I lived the school there was a lot of stuff that surprised me academically. I was able to satisfy my science requirements by taking a course called “insects” and another called “dinosaurs”. And the professor used the same test every semester and it was online. We would literally all gather in our sorority house and take the tests as a group. Massive cheating going on. I hope that’s changed.

Two of my siblings went there and I remember being jealous of how easy it was compared to the school I chose. It churned out a lot of communications and marketing majors. I don't disagree that it's risen in status, it just requires a shift in my thinking.

What are their strong programs?

Not a gator as I couldn’t get in. Forbes has it T25, #28 USNWR. Getting into anything in T30 on USNWR is incredible these days. It’s not your grandparents admissions process…

And let’s not forget it’s one of the few schools rapidly ascending! Wasn’t a T50 a decade ago. #19 public 5 years ago…good momentum, one of the Best kept Secrets, and best values.

Hard to get much higher for UF. Too many heavy hitters in the way.

Yeah, if UC-B can’t break T20, then we are just splitting hairs. All these schools are highly competitive!!

That’s the point. UCB is far superior academically to UF. Universities should be ranked in tiers and not in ordinals. Berkeley is easily 4-5 tiers higher than Florida. Gator fans actually think that being 28 is as good as being 23. In reality, there is no comparison. The academics don’t stand up.

😂 “4-5 tiers”. We are talking about schools #1-28 in the entire universe of 3200 schools in US. 4-5 tiers??? Ha ha

Ok you got me. I’d put Florida in tier 6. Only 4 tiers behind UCB.

Hahaha - I say you are a Notre Dame fan, as trolls look a lot like leprechauns😂

What does it have to do with Notre Dame?
My kid actually got in both Notre Dame and UF.
Of courese plan to attend Notre Dame.

I don’t know, check out their website and google…unless I’m getting a commission, I don’t need to convince you 😂. But they are cutting edge AI, and lead in many research areas. Employers love UF grads for many reasons. But, yes, they did sneak up under the radar of those focused on other schools for no other reason than perceived reputation. If you like the attributes is a school like UF, apply. If you don’t, then don’t. Those who got in should be excited as it appears to be highly competitive this year, especially for OOS.

Yeah, I wouldn’t use that phrase. It’s racist.

Jesus Christ.

Just another cracker who doesn’t seem to care that Blacks were fed to alligators as “gator bait”. That’s where the phrase comes from.

“Cracker” sounds racist too. One seems accidental, the other seems intentional.

I graduated from UF 10 years ago. I loved it! Great school, great college town within easy driving distance to many nice beaches. I’ve had plenty of opportunities as a UF grad. Most importantly, I had a wonderful experience in college. I recommend it to anyone.
