Foods that you strongly dislike, if there are any?

I can’t think of anything I *strongly* dislike. I think most food preferences come down to preparation for me - like, prefer most veggies roasted/stir fried/raw to boiled; prefer many meats grilled to baked, and not heavily sauced.

Beets
Sweet Potatoes
Kool aid or gatorade type drinks, literally make me gag

I see beets and seafood and mayonnaise on a lot of lists, interesting

I hate beets but love seafood of all kinds and mayo is one of my favorites

Green bell peppers. A few people have mentioned them. I like red and yellow. Just not green.

They taste like blood and dirt, right? I love them but you are like my dad. He’s not a picky eater at all ( he grew up poor) but this is how he feels about beets (and liver). It must be minerals that you can taste!

I think we all taste the minerals it’s just a matter of whether you like the mineral taste. I suspect people who are low iron like beets more than others.

Salad and seafood. I had hyperemesis through 3 pregnancies and could keep them down. Now I can’t eat them without gagging.
“Buttercreme” made with shortening and cool whip are such sad substitutes for the real thing.

I had 3 hyperemesis pregnancies as well and am amazed you could eat seafood! Or salad!! I barely got to the point of choking down small amounts of plain pasta. Now, 7+ years later I cannot stand orzo.

That was a typo! I couldn’t keep anything down, but the worst, worst things to come back up were salad and seafood.

I had morning sickness with my second and all I could eat the first trimester was spinach salad with a lot of lemon and sushi (I know I know but I picked a reputable place). All thru my pregnancy I lived for that weekly tuna melt, even in the middle of the summer.

Beets are wonderful when they are cooked properly. Roasted with olive oil and then mixed with horseradish.

Olives
Beets
Fennel

No matter how many times I try them I just can’t like them.

Interesting. I love beets, but I'm a pretty big meat eater. Just ate a big bloody steak yesterday.

I hated them growing up. They always made my stomach hurt.

That is interesting!
I love beets too, especially Harvard and pickled. I am often anemic.

Oh that makes more sense. I’m amazed you even swallowed those things! I couldn’t eat anything with a smell. Even my husband opening the fridge 20 feet from our bedroom would send me retching. Ugh I don’t miss those days at all. Love my kids but I’m so glad I never have to go through that again.

Not anemic at all, and I love beets boiled, pickled, borscht. I did try then grated raw for salad but did not care for that.

In general I really like root vegetables.

ground turkey: I have managed to use it in a stir fry with lots of seasoning, but cooking ground turkey smells like roadkill.

Anything slimy that has chunks in it, like tapioca, and anything with any traceable amount of capsaicin.
