Good. It worked. |
Yawwwwwnnnnn. |
Good. |
MPH as well here and I’m glad DC is finally implementing vaccine mandate. Seems easy to say that we are all looking out for our best interests when most people don’t care about the community and continue to not mask properly or go out with covid symptoms. |
DC will bleed money. Just got asked by a friend to go downtown between the homeless tents, boarded store fronts, and vaccine cards, we don’t need to spend money there. Not sure about PP but I’m rich, so lol sure keep me and my money out. I predict City Center starts shutting down in six months. |
This is what will happen. Twenty-four year D.C. resident here. Times have been financially good for the city for 18-20 years. We're entering a big financial downslide now, and this Queen Bowsah-imposed requirement will put the cherry on top. The ten percent food and beverage tax for years has been a de facto commuter tax for law firms, lobbyists, and nightlife suburbanites. I feel for restaurant employees who will be turning away angry tourists. |
Yep. Good for you! You won. Kept me and my money out of DC. Good work. You can pay yourself on the back as you walk by the shuttered restaurants and closed up shops. You can feel good about your ‘win’ but it is a bit sad for the employees and small business owners who have already suffered and now will suffer more. |
| *pat yourself not pay yourself |
Masks are practically pointless. You will get COVID someday. Shrugs. Good luck with your "community" of people so afraid of each other that they mask up and stay away from each other despite that it's all imaginary theater and doesn't do a d*mn thing. The only thing you could have done was to get vaccinated and that was to protect yourself, and that's all that can be done. |
Petty little person. Just stay home. |
A vaccine mandate isn't going to force people to wear masks or modify their COVID behavior. It only affects the rule followers who already do these things. |
I just brought some out of town family to the Mall to play tourist for a day. They hadn't been here in 5 years and were blow away by how much things have deteriorated. The Mall itself and the areas immediately around the major monuments were clear of tents, but just a block or two outside the Mall and there were encampments everywhere. We discussed eating dinner but they didn't want to have to walk back through the encampments to leave after dark. |
Glad you guys weren't at the Caps game last night... |
I thought Caps games don't require vaccines (until January 15, anyway)? |
| There are a lot of reasons DC will bleed money that we residents are aware of (if our socialist city government doesn't change course) but this is not one. I have not been dining out specifically because there is no vaccine mandate. However, I did book a trip to NY which has one in place for pretty much all entertainment and tourist activities. While I personally think the omnicron surge has overtaken all of this, it's a good precedent and when the surge subsides will encourage me to do more in my hometown of DC. It's beyond time for this. Now Biden needs to impose a vaccine mandate for air, train etc. travel. |
