Langley is private, who knew |
His kids went to Gonzaga and the Potomac School - private schools. Expensive ones. |
And some of them do not have race as a top priority either way. But he sees choices as being one or the other. It's a projection of his own binary thoughts. |
Everywhere. Both from racists and anti-racists. It's either used as a victim mentality or a power trip mentality. |
He sent a kid to Langley, how many Younkins have been inside a public school? |
I’ve heard this claim many times but haven’t seen an actual example yet. |
Of course, not every single decision you make is racist/anti-racist. The decision of which salad dressing I chose for lunch wasn't a major racist/antiracist thought process. But there are choices that do matter. His point was be aware & thoughtful about those choices and do your best. |
They didn’t read Stamped in English. Rather, they read it during an open period that is supposed to be for kids to get help in additional subjects that they need. Instead of reading Kendi, the time would have been MUCH better spent having kids get help in the actual subjects that they needed. So, yes. Reading Kendi meant that the kids didn’t used that time to get help in Algebra or Science or whatever subject. If the school system tells me that my kid didn’t get a year of Algebra because they didn’t have enough ‘instructional time’ to cover the material due to Virual Learning (imposed by the Dems), then I find it strange that they had enough ‘instructional time’ to hold lessons on BLM principles and reading Stamped. |
This is not something to be taught by public schools. Why is it part of the curriculum? It’s just as bad as teaching about the writings of white nationalists. Why is one allowed and one not? Both should be out of our public school system. They can be explored in college. |
Just as many rich Democrats and rich Republicans send their kids to private school. It’s a joke to pretend that one party holds some moral high ground in that regard. |
DP I agree with this! To add to it, all this ‘anti-bias’ training, do we have studies showing that it works? Or is it just some private companies making a killing putting out bogus videos that are made up of nonsense. Because the ones I have seen are pretty ridiculous. You know what our public schools need? A strong curriculum, good teachers, better disciplinary actions. That will help kids of ALL colors. |
So you don't think kids should learn about current events? And you are equating people pushing for equal rights with white nationalists? |
Well, at least we are all talking about it now. So in some ways that shows some level of success. |
Nope, that’s not what I said. Schools should and do teach about current events. They should teach kids to think critically about what they read, AND consider both sides of every issue. BLM is a political organization, whose founder became rich because of it. There is a difference between schools teaching about current events, and a school teaching the Guiding Principles of BLM. I don’t want my kid’s school teaching the Guiding Principles of the BLM movement, just like I don’t want them teaching about the Guiding Principles of the NRA or the KKK. It doesn’t belong in schools. |
Wait, what? Just because we ‘talk’ about something, it’s a success? Is that how our public schools should choose curriculum? No thanks. THIS is why parent and taxpayers deserve a say. If a school system is going to spend million of dollars purchasing a curriculum, it should be clear that it is a proven curriculum with good results. Otherwise, anyone can implant any crap curriculum at any time. (Which is what happened in MCPS with Curriculum 2.0) |
