Vaccine pop-up clinics at DC schools

Bancroft was very organized. We attend the school but there were families from Eaton, MV and Powell. Waited in line for almost 3 hours. 250 doses offered and we were in the 170s.

Now we need to wait and see where the second dose location will be.

I’m the PP who went to Center City. They said same time and place in 3 weeks (11/30). Assume the other school sites would be the same?

Bumping! Do we think the vaccine pop-ups will be crowded next week?

250 shots at Janney for a school population of 700, plus open to the public. I made back-up appointments in Arlington in case its a shit show.

I'd try to find an appointment if you can.

And FWIW when we were at Dorothy Height the nurse told us that we can just come back to the same site 3 weeks later for the second dose

Real-time tweets about the pop-up site shot availability from Kevin Donahue, DC City Administrator, have been great. We looked at 6pm last night and saw that Center City PCS did not have a wait and had 100+ shots available, and 25 minutes later my kid had her first shot.

Oh this is smart! I still think setting a back up appointment would be good. I’ve heard of a couple of kids whose needle fears make attempt #1 a fail so having a back up was helpful

Why is there only ONE vaccination clinic planned for Ward 6 (and none til this weekend)?

I get DCPS’ concern about equity, but it seems like they’ve put the vast majority of clinics in the neighborhoods with the least demand.

Really, just 250 shots to serve all of Ward 6?…. Tonight alone there are likely more shots than that being wasted at schools across the city.

How about working to meet existing demand?

P.s.: At the time of writing I see there are 210 shots still available at Paterson Elementary (but I don’t have the ability to quickly transport myself and my motley kids in time).

You can drive to other wards to get the vaccine.

L-T’s PTO organized a vaccine clinic outside of the school yesterday afternoon. Maybe an option for other Ward 6 schools?
