Seemed extremely well organized. No line and doses available.

I’m so tired of the constant gloom and doom about the 5-11 shots. The roll out was fine. The second shot clinics will be fine. The usual suspects on Twitter declaring this an abject failure aren’t helping anything, and neither are you.

Look, it’s just a fact. There are a ton of kids due for their second shot, no clinics on Thursday or Friday and people are not going to want to pull their kids out of school. It’ll be a mess. People will be turned away.

It will be completely fine. Anyone that wants to wait 4 weeks, which is not a bad idea at all, will have their pick of easy in/easy out clinics.

Not true. Second dose clinics start on Friday. All of the first/second dose clinics were scheduled three weeks apart during after school hours. Why would it be a mess?

I think a lot of people will be waiting longer than 3 weeks. I know we are going to wait 8 weeks.

Well that’s crazy.

it’s what canada is doing.

It’s what Canada is doing because they have less vaccine.

I don’t understand how Canada’s health agencies are set up, but at least one approved a 3 week regimen.

If it were me, I'd wait until 6:30 or 7 and see if there are shots left and try to do a no-wait situation. And if it's too crowded, find somewhere else in the next few days.

But if your only path to vaccination is the clinic at Janney... yes, I guess get in line early?

DOH is tweeting the status of the clinics. At 6:40 there were plenty of shots left at the three school clinics open today and no line.

“6:40 UPDATE:
216 slots available at Whittier ES
153 slots available at Janney ES
229 slots available at Thomas ES
All pediatric clinics have NO LINE!”

LOL Janney didn't even use all their doses. I am so tired of the people that are CONSTANTLY complaining about every little thing.

No, they are doing it because data is accumulating that it provides better long term protection.

PP again. The other reason they are recommending a longer interval is that it reduces the myocarditis risk. This document spells it out:

https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/phac-aspc/documents/services/immunization/national-advisory-committee-on-immunization-naci/recommendations-use-covid-19-vaccines/pfizer-biontech-10-mcg-children-5-11-years-age/pfizer-biontech-10-mcg-children-5-11-years-age.pdf

I’m so tired of people trying to pin every difference in approach by other countries on their supposedly inferior health care. You really can’t seem to tolerate the idea that other countries might have good reasons for their decisions, and they might occasionally be better than what we are doing here.

Safeway offered clinics to schools, and those schools signed up for the clinics. This is how the private schools did it. Theoretically, the public schools could have signed up with Safeway, too. But they didn't because DCPS is a mess.

Our DCPS elementary on the Hill signed up and is doing a vaccine clinic through Safeway in mid-December. There was one at Brent last week.

Mid December is way too late for those who wanted it as soon as possible. Still a joke.

That was the first date available since they are at other schools all the previous days.

Our DCPS school on the Hill did a partnership with Grubbs on 11/9. You just needed a PTO to call and ask.
