Vaccine pop-up clinics at DC schools

Safeway offered clinics to schools, and those schools signed up for the clinics. This is how the private schools did it. Theoretically, the public schools could have signed up with Safeway, too. But they didn't because DCPS is a mess.

Our DCPS elementary on the Hill signed up and is doing a vaccine clinic through Safeway in mid-December. There was one at Brent last week.

Mid December is way too late for those who wanted it as soon as possible. Still a joke.

Anyone who wanted them ASAP was able to get one pretty easily. And I think Safeway ran all the school clinics. I don't see why this is a serious problem -- the vaccines are free no matter where you get one, does it really matter if there was or wasn't a clinic at a given school right when the shots first became available?

Ours is doing round 2 today and it's only for those who received their first one there.

I took my kids to a DCPS site run by DC Health yesterday for their 2nd shot and there were kids there getting the 1st shot. So long as the kid is 5-11 yrs they can get either shot at those locations.

Have any of the 2nd dose clinics been running out of shots? I thought my kid was guaranteed shot 2 at the same place he got his first but it says “first come first served.”

We went to 2nd shot clinic at the same time we did for the first shot- were maybe #115 at the first clinic, #65 at the second. Pretty clear with people finding shots at pharmacies, waiting a few weeks for 2nd shot, etc, the demand for 2nd shot is a bit more spread out than it was the first few days the 5-11 shot was available. If you remember, after maybe the 6th day of clinics there weren't really any more lines for the first shot clinics, and none of them ran out after I think the 4th day or so.
