| They were also giving out numbers so they could tell you right away if they didn’t have enough shots for you. |

We did Takoma popup and you can read my full feedback on the health/medicine section here.
I really encourage use of these for anyone who has time flexibility or needs location convenience - hope it smooths out for others. Unfortunately at Takoma we waited 4 hours with one child. The other child (who was not available yesterday) I was able to book for this Sunday at Giant at 7 a.m. Saturday. Lots of openings if you can drive to Hyatsville or enter in another zip code and search. As of now openings 11/8-11/14. https://giantfoodsched.rxtouch.com/rbssched/program/wellness/Patient/Schedule?zip=20015&appointmentType=6495 Of all the CVS/Walgreens (systems had nothing or dysfunctional - said had an appointment then it went away quickly) the Giant was super easy to use. They say: Enter the ZIP Code for the area near where you want your appointment. This does not have to be the ZIP Code for your home address, your billing address, or any other particular address. You can use the ZIP Code for any area where you want to search for appointments, which may be near your home, your place of work, or some other convenient location. |

The Takoma pop up yesterday only had 3 nurses administering shots which is why the line was moving so slowly. Ridiculous.
I believe the pop ups yesterday were the first so hopefully DH Health gets their act together for the next ones. |
This is helpful - I just scheduled my kids appointments for Tuesday afternoon at a Giant! Question — did you go ahead and schedule the second shot too?? Or are you supposed to make it after getting the first dose?? |
| We went to Ft Stanton pop up yesterday and received the vaxx. It was pretty organized and wasn’t a crazy line. Do we set up second dose independently or will DC Health contact us to schedule? |
They told us directly they were only moving 60 people an hour. I am so grateful for all the hard workers, but it didn't need to take that long. The kids were troopers. |
I just thought of this today. Am making a big guess that they will admin all our paperwork and email us. However, you can get the follow up wherever so might as well schedule it if you can get the appointment. Going to try Giant again after my 2nd is vaccinated tomorrow because it was so easy if you book online. |
You'll need to make it after you get the first dose to space out the 3 weeks. They probably won't let you say "I'm getting my first dose tomorrow" as they ask the date of your first shot to book #2. And your question made me seriously consider could I make both shot 1 and 2 back to back. You could try... but I suspect book shot 2 after shot 1. |
CVS automatically booked our second shot when I did the first one. FWIW, they had more doses than kids at the Hillcrest pop-up today. Access is going to get much easier, very quickly. |
| I asked the DOH woman that was walking around about the second dose and she said we could get it at the same location (ft Stanton)at the next pop up in 3 weeks. I am not eager to spend another 3 hours in line so I made a second dose appointment elsewhere. |
We went to Giant in Hyattsville yesterday with my daughter. Note that you need to show proof of child's age. We were not notified of this when we made the appointment. A picture of the child's birth cert or passport is fine. |

I didn't read through the whole thread, but did go back a couple days and didn't see this posted. It's not about the DCPS sites, but I hope it's still helpful for people.
The PG Sports and Learning Complex has an amazing vaccine center set up, and is welcoming kids from DC as well as MD. We logged in Saturday night and made appointments for Sunday morning. Walked in and were basically brought back for a shot before I even had a chance to check the boxes on two forms regarding potential adverse reaction. Overstaffed with really helpful people. Had someone come by to schedule the second dose while we were in the 15 min waiting period after the shot. If you don't have a pharmacy appointment and don't want to role the dice at the DC sites and waiting in the lines, I recommend checking this out: https://vaccination.princegeorgescountymd.gov/en-US/ |
Giant told us to just come back in 3 weeks. No appointment needed. |
Great, thanks! Going in tomorrow!! |
| We went to the Center City pop up today, and it was super fast. The school sites seem like a decent option now that the initial rush seems to be over. |
