How can you tell if someone is conservative?

She's happy with her life, smiles a lot, genuinely cares about others and their well-being and seems at peace with herself and others.

Happy people are usually conservatives. There have actually been a lot of studies on this.

Sure, it's easy to be happy when you don't care at all about the plight of your fellow citizens, climate change, the weakening of our democratic system....

Studies show conservatives are more afraid of everything and easier to scare. I don't buy for a second they're happier.

I am conservative and I have never said or done anything to imply that I am progressive, in fact I make a point to stay neutral and change the subject because I don't discuss these things outside my family. So I was curious if there were ways people broadcast their affiliation. I will admit that I am lax with my kids about Covid but the other markers you have stated do not apply to me. Thanks and sorry if I offended anyone.

Oh well that's because the way you tell a liberal is they assume everyone agrees with them! When I've had to tell liberals I am not a liberal they are actually shell shocked. Oops! Got exposed to someone with different views!

+1. Exactly. I've found that many liberals are so arrogant in their assumptions that their views are the only correct position to hold and that anyone who doesn't agree with those views doesn't hold a DIFFERENT opinion, they have a WRONG opinion. I think the media endorses this BS by making anything other than the progressive agenda the "alternate" one. And for the record, I'm a conservative in terms of fiscal and international policy but lean heavily toward the middle on social issues.

They are either lashing out in fear or knowingly selecting ignorance, which they know deep down. Can’t be good.

1. Is she a SAHM?
2. Does she belong to a church?
3. Does she do some type of charity work? Through church or other org?
4. Lack of attributes identifying her as being left leaning (pink/blue hair, hybrid vehichle, pronouns on LinkedIn, etc)?

I know women how are yes to all 4 and are very liberal. I guess volunteering for homeless shelters your church helps sponsor is a marker of a conservative
Same here, but my give away apparently is my hybrid. 😄

Thoughts on The Big Lie and 1/6? Just “different opinions”?

Oh yes, "studies" show that. Please.

I can tell you for a fact that I and my conservative friends are far happier than people we know who do not share our values, particularly other women. For one thing, we're not angry with the world. As religious people, we know that we are not of this world and that perfection will never be found here, nor is it intended to be. It's not that we "don't care" about the plight of our fellow citizens - on the contrary, Republicans and religious/ conservative people give far more in time, money and other resources to help others. We just know that ultimately, God is in control. And that's a great thing.

It's easy to care about the plight of your fellow citizens when you're a rich white liberal female who likes to hold a provocative sign and scream about social issues, but in reality does very little to advance those same causes.

OP here. This describes me as well. And yes, I have run into this attitude many many times. It surprised me this time because I have known her for so long and I thought I must have somehow outed myself by now. Guess not!

You don’t know the difference between opinion and fact.

Fiscally conservative but socially middle… so do you vote for money over humans or the other way around?

DC doesn't have an airport. It's in Arlington.

Actually, I work for the Airports Authority and the address of National Airport is 1 Aviation Circle, Washington, DC 20001, even if it is physically in Virginia.

I’m a new conservative and you’ll never know. I’ll busily load the dishwasher while you tell me about how looting is a form of free speech, and I’ll nod politely when you start ranting about how school is just too dangerous. I’ll never tip my hand because I don’t want my children ostracized or my husband’s business harmed. I bet there are more like me. Go Youngkin!!!

Of course, you can always be off base but the voting charts are a good give away.

No where I am from Catholic upper middle class, College educated.

Obviously, this is only a sample. But Staten Island, NY, and where I am from on Long Island and where I live in MD. That is my sample. I have friends in all of these places no longer my friends. Anyone who participated in a Trump train or still is I dumped.

Also, my sample family members Orthodox, Jews.

Dang, honey, you need some friends like you. I’m putting up a Youngkin sign just so my people can find me.
