How can you tell if someone is conservative?

Specifically a fellow mom. What are the clues? Obviously lawn signs and bumper stickers but is there anything more subtle?

If you try, you will invariably be wrong 50% of the time.

Why does it matter?

You can’t. Not everyone displays their political Jews publicly. At least if they’re smart and not a politician they don’t.

Why do you care@?

White, boomer. No college degree. Military. Rural. Gun owner.

Of course, you can always be off base but the voting charts are a good give away.

I’m in the why does it matter boat but here are some things I would consider:

1. Is she a SAHM?
2. Does she belong to a church?
3. Does she do some type of charity work? Through church or other org?
4. Lack of attributes identifying her as being left leaning (pink/blue hair, hybrid vehichle, pronouns on LinkedIn, etc)?

I know women how are yes to all 4 and are very liberal. I guess volunteering for homeless shelters your church helps sponsor is a marker of a conservative

Do you mean personally rather conservative or politically conservative? Politically: if she’s concerned about critical race theory in our schools, if she feels like Christians are persecuted, if she refers to the Democratic Party as the Democrat Party, if she’s very concerned about socialism. Less reliable: if she feels like covid poses virtually no risk to children.

Yep, I’m not saying that the above are positive confirmation, they’re just clues.

I find the use of "Mrs" a pretty reliable tell, among people 50s or younger.

Also a tendency to bring up school vouchers, how old Biden is, or worries about trans kids. The people who come door knock around election time definitely use those as dog whistles.

The "don't tread on me" license plate is a handy identifier.

Just pay attention. Eventually they will make a comment that will show you which way. Like choking on their drink when you mention you'd be ok with your kid being gay, for example. Yes this happened to me. Helpful to know!
