Sure. That must be why Biden is getting slammed in the media for going on vacay amidst all the crises the GOP has caused...... If this boondoggle is so bad for Dems in swing districts, why did so many of them run on these very proposals in 2020? They love to talk up these issues when its time to get votes because they're incredibly popular. Josh Gottheimer: Josh has consistently fought to protect access to affordable health care and lower out of pocket costs for prescription drugs, worked to tackle climate change through the introduction of his Five Point Green Action Plan..." Kyrsten Sinema: "Coverage for pre-existing conditions Prescription drug costs Medicare for our seniors It’s all on the ballot this year, so we all need to vote." Carolyn Bordeaux: "Every day, I hear from Georgia families struggling with the rising costs of prescription drugs and that’s why I made taking on this crisis the centerpiece of my 2018 campaign for Congress,” Bourdeaux said. “I watched my own parents drain their bank accounts to pay for medication before they passed away. It’s with them in mind that I’m so heartened to see Congress take action to bring down prescription drug prices and provide much-needed relief to working families." |
Watching the government restrict monoclonal antibodies in certain states to try and control their governors tells me exactly why I want NOTHING to do with any sort of Federally controlled health insurance. It also tells me why the V.A. is in such shambles, and why Medicare sucks. |
Because the faux moderates, aka hardcore Republicans, don’t like these things and are happy to come on here and bash all that stuff like it’s the most insane stuff ever. |
Sorry that you think that states in which people have been responsible and gotten vaccinated should suffer because DeSantis is personally profiting from the sale of monoclonal antibodies. Because that’s what it is. The red states are sucking all the monoclonal antibodies in lieu of getting vaccinated, leaving no monoclonal antibodies for treating any breakthrough cases in blue states. Thank god the government is stepping in. |
We are literally running out of monoclonal antibodies, therefore the federal government has to RATION the supplies. This is basic common sense. Also basic common sense: getting a COVID vaccine so you don't use up the limited supply of monoclonal antibodies. |
Limits and cuts are coming. ![]() Late last week Biden held marathon meetings with nearly two dozen progressive and moderate lawmakers to get his agenda passed. He's now considering limits to tuition-free community college and universal childcare to cut down the massive, progressive-backed $3.5 trillion package in a bid to pacify moderates and spending hawks. The White House and Democratic leaders are weighing attaching or strengthening income caps to a number of key agenda items, according to two officials familiar with the discussions. |
And Sinema is openly soliciting campaign contributions from people who are opposed to the infrastructure plan.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/27/us/politics/sinema-fund-raiser-social-climate-bill.html?searchResultPosition=1 I look forward to the day we can stop pretending Sinema and Manchin are anything resembling Democrats. |
Oh well, too bad so sad. Moderate Dem here and I agree with her. $3.5 trillion is too much for too little. Maybe if the Dems hadn't been stuffing their plates with all the cookies they would have gotten something passed but $1 trillion for free childcare, free nationwide pre-school, free college, free maternity/paternity leave, free school lunches, free housing on top of $300 per child per month payments already lining pockets. Everything's FREE. What exactly are the parents paying for? |
I hope the the child tax credit income caps are $150,000 per household because what it is now is ridiculous. Why are people making $400,000 getting paid $1,200/month for four children? |
As long as families with two healthy adult parents but only have one income (ie having a stay at home parent), we should not be penalizing high income households. If the government can subsidize the life choices of those who dont want to work, they can also provide benefit to those who do work. |
If one person is choosing not to work that's on them. But the household is still making $400,000. There is no reason the income limits are this high. |
Sure there is. People making $400k have expenses too. What makes your arbitrary cutoff number better than $400k? |
