My sister is a primary care physician and she said she has had over 30 phone calls just this week, parents asking if she will basically lie and say their child has a medical condition that exempts them from having to wear a mask at school.
And schools really expect parents to be honest and keep their kids home if they have a fever or symptoms....smh |
This isn't gym swimming in high school! This is life or death. |
Schools have no choice in the matter.
|
I couldn't wear a mask all day but I do have health issues. |
Okay. Thanks for reminding us? |
This is why schools won’t be open at all. |
I am not in the dc area anymore, we are a military family. I have see this exact discussion on some of the military wives pages. Moms literally sharing tips for how they plan to get their kid out of wearing one. |
I don’t think the ADA means what these fools think it does. |
How about this one: teachers are lying about medical conditions so they don’t have to teach. It goes both ways. Like one says she has asthma. I looked up asthma and it’s only moderate to severe asthma that makes one higher risk for covid. This woman definitely doesn’t have moderate or severe asthma. Lol! |
How would you know? My sister has bad asthma and takes a steroid for it so I doubt you’d ever know because her breathing typically seems fine. The last time she got an infection she was in the hospital for weeks, had disabling after effects for a year—-the steroid makes her more vulnerable. |
I am a teacher in NJ and our governor just announced today that teachers will be required to wear masks and that masks are strongly recommended for students. Parents getting doctors' notes was the first thing that popped into my mind when he said that. |
Our school which is not in DC/VA/MD sent out an email stating that if school is held in person, masks will be required for any students over the age of 5 in order to comply with state directives. But then they added this:
“Additionally, please take the time to talk to your child about the medical and health related reasons that limit a classmate or campus adult’s ability to wear a mask” at the end of the paragraph begging parents to practice mask-wearing at home this summer. I have no doubt that there will be students and teachers with legitimate reasons that prevent them from wearing a mask, and for that reason my kids will be wearing masks. But that sentence is also probably intended to give the school an excuse for the snowflake kids and their pushy parents. One school mom has already told me that her child won’t be practicing mandated distancing or wearing a mask at school because “Larlo really needs to feel free to move about in order to do his best learning.” |
I think schools should say: If your child has a medical condition that prohibits wearing a mask, your child's medical condition clearly should keep him home. Enjoy the distance learning. Those parents should be ashamed of themselves. |
Will they have to wear a mask the entire day?
I thought they could take masks off when they are at their desks. |
Of course they are. Too much to ask for a bit of self-discipline and consideration of others that they don’t kill off the nice para who had a kidney transplant. |
