Parents are lying about medical conditions, so kids don’t have to wear masks.

I have no doubt that there will be students and teachers with legitimate reasons that prevent them from wearing a mask, and for that reason my kids will be wearing masks. But that sentence is also probably intended to give the school an excuse for the snowflake kids and their pushy parents. One school mom has already told me that her child won’t be practicing mandated distancing or wearing a mask at school because “Larlo really needs to feel free to move about in order to do his best learning.”

We should wear masks for the same reason we should get vaccinations: to protect ourselves, and also to protect those who legitimately can’t. Cheating that system causes it to break down, and you get outbreaks.

You're a jerk. My kids are absolutely going to wear masks and they can. But many people with autism and other disabilities truly can't due to sensory issues. My BIL, who is an adult with ASD, is struggling with this tremendously. He's going to wear a face shield when he returns to work, but the reason he can tolerate it with practice is in part because he's a grown man. We should find alternatives like face shields for those with sensory issues. No one should be exempt. It only takes one person to spread the virus. If you don't want school to be interrupted then wear a shield or a mask.

This is too draconian. The kids who have genuine sensory issues might also not be able to wear a face shield. They are also most likely MOST in need of in-person learning. If you have a diagnosis, you don’t have to wear mask. No need to stomp on kittens.

Kittens are vectors. No one is saying stomp
on them. They do have to mask up. If that can’t be accommodated, distance learning is an option.

Or put those who refuse to mask for whatever reason in the same school building. Kids with ASD, Trumpster teachers, whatever.

Except that logic doesn't really work here as pro-vaccine families will send their kids to school sick and are going out and not social distancing and not care about others. Masks are helpful but there is far more to getting rid of the virus and people in the US are too selfish to care about anyone except themselves.

Saying someone has asthma doesn't mean much as it could be mild or severe. I can wear one for 20-30 minutes but then feel like I will pass out except if I lift it open for a few seconds which defeats the purpose. It also is meaningless as what kind of mask. A simple piece of fabric is very different from two pieces of fabric and interfacing as a filter.

My teen wears a mask and gloves the entire time at their outdoor job. The owners are trumpers and think the virus is a hoax. They have loud political conversations with their customers (somehow nearly all of them, even ones visiting from out of state, are trumpers) about how evil Joe Biden is, how bad vaccines are, etc.
