From interview with Milo V: There’s a moment when Rebecca is standing at the vending machine and it sounds like Jack calls her name. Can you confirm if that was real? Milo V: “The moment at the vending machine where you hear “Bec,” that was something that was questionable if it was something ethereal or something that was real. That’s something that I think is up for interpretation by the audience.” https://www.google.com/amp/variety.com/2018/tv/news/this-is-us-star-milo-ventimiglia-jack-death-interview-1202687307/amp/ |
I must be dead inside. Even though I LOVE the show, I haven't cried. Even when I thought the moment deserved it. And I agree with others that Mandy Moore was brilliant. Especially the candy bar/doctor telling her part. Brilliant. |
I cry most episodes. And did not cry during this one. -either I am so closed off to death bc I am emotionally avoiding the topic -or I was prepared to face a doozy of an episode, and it wasn’t so bad (lots of happy, good things mixed in) I didn’t cry during the fire-starting episode either, even though it was BRUTAL. I did tear up when I watched it a second time. |
Why did Kevin say that tree was Jack's tree?
|
I did cry. The Jack storyline got me and so did the foster child flash forward. This show is so much better than anything else on tv. |
I didn't understand the little boy foster child storyline. Why was Randall there if another couple was there for the little boy? |
It was a flash forward. The social worker in that scene was grown up Tess. Randall came to have lunch with her. |
Even if she herself would have gone back in for the dog, the anger part isn't always rational. But TBH he wasn't going back in because he wanted to save the dog, he wanted to go back in to be Kate's hero and maybe Becca's and assumed it was going to be OK. Grown Kate actually kind of nails that and I can't imagine the guilt she would carry, I would too, even though it wasn't her fault, she was a scared kid(17 but still) and that was her dog/ world. I think the "your father was the most perfect man" bits they are doing aren't doing them any favors in their lives- he of COURSE had flaws, one was needing to feel like a hero, which I think drove him to go back in more than actually wanting that dog or photos. |
Anyone? I googled it and I still don't know why it was Jack's tree. Anyone know? |
I assume in a future episode it will show the aftermath of his death and funeral. We haven't seen beyond the first few hours/day after death as far as I know. |
This show was not the heart-tugging sobfest the media is making it out to be. I think the audience has been waiting 2 years for this so it was not as emotional as it would be otherwise. |
So the story of how it's Jack's tree hasn't been shown yet? |
I was thinking the storyline of the little boy in foster care was going to be that kevin finally gets his shit together and he becomes the foster parent. |
They had one other episode there, when Randall stopped off there with his bio father to "meet" his dad. I'm guessing they scattered his ashes there. |
Because he was there to take his adult daughter Tess to lunch. She was the one facilitating the placement. |
