How is there even a second team if there aren't enough players on the first team? That's not logical. You fill the first team roster first, then build a second team if you have enough players.

The problem is that in April/May, they actually do their job and everyone else goes to tryouts and signs back up. Once HYS has that money and have you locked in, then they go back to doing absolutely nothing for the fall season. They'll sign you up for random, new tournaments that HYS Admin runs, they'll give you whatever field is available while certain teams only will get appropriate space.
Not to mention, the younger age groups barely have enough players per team, they'll still make multiple teams to collect more $$, players will play on 2 different teams just so coaches can have a team to coach.
It's obvious they're also trying to rebuild the rec program so that's why they try to give them "safe" environments while I guess it doesn't matter if the older kids have to be "safe" If it's not safe for 13 year old girls, it's not safe for 14 year old boys

Having 2 teams with less players takes way more resources than one over rostered team. This logic doesn't make sense.

It makes you more money, because instead of sensibly having one, correctly rostered team, and cutting the extra ten kids, you stretttch and create two too-small teams, and get those ten kids' fees.

Our RL team doesn't have enough players.

That’s frustrating. Do they have a plan for the team? I know the u19 second team doesn’t have enough players. They had RL players covering in the tournament last weekend. But if you’re already RL, where do you borrow from?

I heard that u19 team only had 12 players.

I feel badly for the kids on that team. You can’t be competitive with a skeleton crew at that age.

Once boys hit U13/14 up thru high school, its common to have multiple injured players on the team at all times. Any responsible org does not roster fewer than 17 (2 GKs, 15 field players).

Is that an NCSL team

How do you end up with a U19 boys team with only 12 players on it? They had all spring/summer to do supplemental tryouts. That's just....dumb.

This is exactly what they're doing (parent of a former Herndon 2nd team player).

Because by the time the players get to U19 they have moved to better clubs.

Its the second team of HS seniors! They are just playing for fun in the high school off season by that point.

I would think a lot of kids would just opt for rec at that point for a lot less money if that’s the case.

What happened to the rest of the team from last spring?

sounds like their rec teams get better practice space than their travel teams so would be smart
