| The u-littles on the boys side |
The tryouts last night were for U11-U14 boys. |
Remember when they said they would send out offers to returning players before tryouts? Instead, here everyone is after the first tryout, wondering what is going on. I should’ve known they weren’t actually going to send out offers ahead of time, as that would require a level of organization and communication that I have yet to see from the club. |
|
I don't know why they said that if they weren't going to actually do it. It just makes people think everyone else is getting offers before tryouts but not their kid when in fact it seems they didn't send them to anyone. Communication 101.
|
| At the tryouts last night or on Sunday did they tell the kids when they would hear something? |
It would have made a lot more sense to tell families that the offer process might take a bit longer due to the age group changes. Then people could be pleasantly surprised if an offer arrived more quickly. Always underpromise and overdeliver! |
Yes, and they were split across two different times not all on the field at once. To be fair, the tryouts this week are supposed to be for players who want to make the top team only. So presumably the players who don’t want to or don’t think they have a shot would not have been there. |
| With the age group change, changing how they run try-outs to separate out RL from NCSL (last year we had two nights total of combined tryouts and black team offers were sent the day after tryout 1) and Herndon's regular level of disorganization, I would expect offers much later which doesn't do anything for the people holding off offers from clubs who are more organized. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they are having turnout issues if they hold all the first team offers until the end of the second first team tryout, to make sure they get enough kids showing up.... |
ugh don't give them ideas pls |
I can’t imagine numbers are so low that they can’t fill up the first team on the boys side? You would think they would send offers quickly to the kids that they know they want back on the first team. I could see them holding off on sending offers to kids who are more on the bubble, that they are considering moving down. Presumably they would want to see if anyone else shows up who could be a better fit for those last few spots. It makes for some awkward conversations among parents, but that’s how we have seen it done elsewhere. |
lots of herndon boys have been at the great falls tryouts - not sure if they have gotten offers yet but my u16 said there were lots of herndon kids at the great falls tryouts. if they got offers and accepted them already maybe their done with herndon and not even going to the tryouts. |
| If they were concerned about loosing kids they would get the offers out asap. |
| So what happened at the game this weekend is the real question here… |
Sometimes people go to tell a story about a game and realize the story makes their own team also look bad. Who knows if that is the case here. |
This just makes it sound like an even better story. |
