When was the last redemption story of someone at his age? Hollywood is youth obsessed. He’s a bloated old man in his late 50s. He’s not RDJ getting over a drug habit in his 20s. He’s a man that was on the tail end of his career who happened to cheat with the wrong crazy at that time. I will never understand why he is pursuing a legal action he can’t win. All of this just continues to force him to be connected to this woman he claims he hates. |
+1 Agree. Both of them are wrong, both of them have problems. But she is a manipulative byotch who takes away from real abuse victims. I was actually not too much of a JD fan before the trial, but watching this I have changed my tune. He has drug/alcohol dependency issues, and that is his go to. AH was/is probably a party girl who was/is attracted to that. But the underlying theme is that I believe she wanted fame so bad, she was willing to do anything to get it. She wanted her way, and was willing to do anything to get that, too. When she could not have it both ways, the whole thing imploded on her. They both need serious help, but I believe he is less in the wrong and should not have had his contracts taken. If anything, they both should have, until the matter was "resolved" - however that was to be. I don't think I have ever watched Jack Sparrow, but I have been to Disney (for the kids), and JD created that whole enterprise. Disney may have been in a bad situation, but I think they owe JD amends. The onyl thing is, I don't want Ah to get one bit of it, nor should she get spousal support. They put each other through a lot, but she put him through more. |
How exactly did it further damaged his reputation? His "drunk druggie" reputation was known since even before that in-depth Rolling Stone interview, which Johnny Depp even recommended to Amber's lawyer ("You should read it, Mr. Rottenborn", as Rottenborn was enumerating sensational tabloid lines) - this trial doesn't add any new elements. And after all the evidence of Amber's behavior, his wife beater reputation is now seen in a light of mutual abuse, at worst. |

She is so bad, that it made me forget that he left the mother of his children and chose to be with this dumb, yet evil person.

First of all, if he cleaned up he’d likely lose some of the weight and bloat. He still has amazing bone structure. Most importantly he is a talented actor. He’s never needed youthful roles to display that talent as he always shied away from leading man roles. One of his best performances was under a bunch of aging prosthetics. He doesn’t need to be Iron Man (those movies were never his bag) and he doesn’t need to be Channing Tatum. He needs a great performance in an acclaimed movie, which is not likely to be a Hollywood blockbuster with lots of explosions and marvel characters anyway. And he is capable of it. There’s a huge middle ground between “unemployable” and “biggest leading man in Hollywood”. He never wanted the latter in the first place. Jack Sparrow was double-edged for him. It might not ever reach those heights again but he can have a career. Mel Gibson still work, for Christ’s sake. He may not be Lethal Weapon anymore but he can work. |
He's keeping all this in the media. Heard's lawyers start their case and we're going To be flooded with horrific details. And honestly I'm more disgusted with him knowing he brought this clearly weak case. It smacks of continued punishment. If his lawyers didn't tell him he was likely to lose this case, they weren't doing their jobs. |
Depp’s lawyers already know what’s going to be said. They already went through the first case in the UK. Many of the “horrific details” are just what Amber said he did. And they are going after her credibility. As I’ve said repeatedly this case shouldn’t have a chance in hell based just on the legality of the matter but there are other factors involved. There’s a jury and juries can be weird. There’s the competence of the attorneys. So far from what Iv’ve seen his have done a better job than hers. But her said hasn’t presented their side yet and could well change my mind. |
My brother is an entertainment attorney in LA. He's finished. He can't get insurance and nobody will step in to cover for him because he aired the dirty laundry and upset too many people in the industry. He's a huge liability and hasn't been making enough money for the studio in a while. |
I said IF HE CLEANS UP AND TAKES ACCOUNTABILITY FOR HIS LIFE. Which I don’t think he’s willing to do. I think he is way too enamored of the junkie life and he seems in some sort of arrested development somewhere in his early 20s. |
He can work in Europe. He can work with some new or obscure directors, which was his preference any way. The biggest challenge will be to keep his own ego in check. |
Yeah, I agree with this. Louis CK winning a grammy this year was the icing on the cake for me. (I used to love him but wtf.) Unless you're an Epstein you will get chance after chance when you're a male. It's totally ridiculous. That said, I don't think this trial has been kind to Depp. I am an average person who would watch his movies when they looked good, not a huge fan or anything, but I did like the first Pirates movie. I didn't know he was such a drug/alcohol addict or was so out of it for so much of his career, and I've lost respect for him. I don't like his demeanor at trial -- he seems like he really hates her and wants to hurt her. I didn't know anything about Amber Heard and she doesn't look great either, but I don't really care about her, anyway -- like, I was never going to see a movie just because she was in it to start with, right? This all makes me really tired of men and their sh!t. She wrote a newspaper article complaining about men and their sh!t and he hates her so much he had to sue her about it when she didn't even mention his name? The imbalance of power is incredible. I hope he has to pay her attorneys fees. |
Amber’s found the thread. |
There is like, an extra special crazy flavor of poster that starts to believe that an actual celebrity is on DCUM. They are bizarrely hateful towards women, and seem to come out specifically like...Chrissy Tiegan, Meghan Markle, Hilaria Baldwin and here Amber Heard! Once you're accusing someone of being a celebrity, you've gone far off the obsessed with celebrity gossip deep end. |
NP and I agree with both PPs |
It was a joke. I was comparing you to Amber. I’m a radical feminist, btw, and if the women you’ve listed are your gold standard…we’ll, bless you. You can support women’s rights without engaging in misandry. Have a nice day. |
