College and University Discussion
| DS is a senior and is down to deciding between these three. What are the major differences? Is it true that BC students go into Boston frequently instead of stay on campus? How do the business schools compare? Thank you. |
|
I would assume the student would feel a pull to one geographic area over the others.
That can be enough of a reason |
|
I have friends who went to all three of those and all of them are still enthusiastic about them.
Geography is obviously a big difference. Greek life is also a factor (not a thing at BC). I don't think there's a "wrong" decision to be made here. They're all wonderful! Congrats to your DS! |
| Wake has quite a different vibe than (Northeastern Catholic) BC and Nova. How does your DS feel about Greek life? That will cross out Wake if he is ambivalent. Not much to do there if you're not a member of the Greek community. Is DS Catholic? How important is his faith to him? Is there a Newman Center at Wake? |
| BC is a suburban campus and students don't go into Boston proper as much as you'd think. It's a long trolley ride in. |
| I would take BC over the others.... |
| Does kiddo know where they want to settle down? If it's around here, Wake Forest name/network might go slightly further. If it's around Boston, definitely go BC. |
| I'm honestly not excited about any of those three. Any other options? |
Not too late to apply to Hiram. |
| They are my daughter’s top school to apply. We love Wake over BC and Nova. They focus more on a more holistic life for the student and the small class sizes allow for the students to be very engaged. Nova is a great school but not as impressive as BC or Wake. BC has a great reputation especially if you want to stay in the Northeast. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the choices. Good luck! |
Not too familiar with current college admissions, are you? I vote Wake. |
Some people are so rude. OP told you three colleges their kid is interested in, and you feel a need to contribute that they are all beneath you. Glad I don't know you. |
| I grew up near BC. It’s about a 20 minute train ride in, but only because it’s the slow Green Line. Distance wise it’s just over the border. The campus is very much a campus life and kids go to parties on campus. If your son wants to live in Boston or thereabouts, it’s a very active alumni network. |
| Welcome to DC & suburbs. Why can’t people just be kind? Or it because they are just envious? All 3 are awesome schools with superb Business Schools. I would just ask my child what they prefer. |
