Fully vaccinated with no symptoms. |
I find Kavanaugh’s presence on the court nauseating, but even I don’t think he belongs on this thread. He’s fully vaccinated. What evidence is there that he thought covid was a hoax? It seems like his diagnosis is only newsworthy as an explanation for his absence as the court starts meeting in person again. |
Yup. Smart take. |
I am the OP of this who thread and agree with PP - there's zero evidence that Kav is a COVID denier forced to learn the virus is a hoax, and moreover he seems to be totally asymptomatic which would probably just affirm most COVID-deniers' position that the virus is NBD. They've probably also ask why bother getting vaccinated if you can still test positive while ignoring that probably being vaxxed is what is making Kav asymptomatic but whatever |
Inasmuch as he’s fighting for the benefit of the side that calls it a hoax, treats it as a hoax and pushes disinformation about it, it seems like he’s fair game. |
Oh sure, I don't mean don't mention him - I just feel like he's not a case of hoist on his own stupid petard, as so many others on this thread are. People who loudly insisted covid didn't exist, then came covid to insist that it really does. |
stupid and/or tragic, i should say |
Nope! |
One of my uncle’s relatives through marriage just died from Covid after several weeks on a ventilator. I never met the guy but I knew who he was because he was always commenting on my aunt and uncle’s Facebook posts with super MAGA political stuff. The guy’s own Facebook page is nothing but political memes including anti vaccine stuff. Like PP said, someone who basically became their politics. Now my aunt and uncle are posting the usual “So and so passed away please keep our family in our prayers” type of posts and posting photos of good times together. It must be complicated to grieve the loss of someone who refused to do something that likely would have prevented their death. It’s a bit strange to see people responding to my aunt and uncle’s posts without acknowledging the elephant in the room. I imagine no one will bring it up at his funeral and that if anyone does someone will say “don’t bring politics into this” or something like that.
It’s crazy how the above scenario just keeps playing out over and over and over again in the US. Anyone who won’t get the vaccine at this point probably can’t be convinced. They probably see themselves as soldiers willing to die in a battle for freedom. I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. |
Yeah. Once they’re dead, no point talking about vaccination status. I don’t know that that crowd believes the vaccine would have made a difference.
On Twitter and on Reddit, a ton of examples of this exact scenario (MAGA anti vaccine posts on FB seem in screen shots, followed by that person’s hospitalization and/or death). Herman Cain Awards. |
I don't know if it was on here or in some opinion piece about the Herman Cain Awards reddit page, but I read a comment saying that one of the most disturbing aspects of these scenarios is how accepting the families seem to be of this fate. "He was my best friend and the love of my life. We'll miss you, Scott!" |
A lot of those people have a vested interest in pushing the narrative that covid is nothing special and that we should all welcome death with open arms whenever and however it comes to us. It is disturbing because there’s a gaslighting quality to it. |
Yes, some of the posts are disturbing because there is a distinct sense of "welp, what can you do, death by a vaccine-preventable illness amirite?!?" quality to them. My personal theory is that some of the people who died were very hard to live with and the people announcing the deaths have mixed feelings. |
Lol this is a good point |
