Anyone can talk about the duggars, and sorry to tell you, not everyone is going to post stuff that you want to read! Oh well! Some of us think the duggars are good people and if you don't like it, you can GET OVER IT!

And you seem to think that because you get to talk that what you says is worth listening to.

And the same could be said about you! Let me ask you something. Did you used to watch the duggars tv show when it was on tlc? And if so why did you watch it?

NP but let me answer your question..s?

Did you used to watch the duggars tv show when it was on tlc? Yes

And if so why did you watch it? Yes

Yes isn't an answer to a why question. So what reason did you watch the show for? What was your opinion of the duggars?

NP: at first I found it interesting, then it became a trainwreck, then it became supplemental to reading about the behind the scenes on freejinger and twop

If you think the duggars are a train wreck, why would you spend so much time watching their show and reading websites about them? I'm trying to understand this mindset. I watched the show when I had cable, but I watched it because I thought they were a great family. I was entertained by them, but not because of anything negative. I just find it so odd that there are so many people who hate them, but they are spending so much time watching, reading and posting negative stuff about them. It's weird to me.

Not that PP. I've watched the show a few times, and read about them. I've spent a lot of time reading No Longer Quivering, as well as Krakauer's book about FLDS. Why? Because it is interesting, and a part of our country. I'm a PK of a minister in a mainline church, BTW, and these stories are so far from my childhood or my faith.

What does this mean? What's PK?

Preacher's kid. In my case, my father became a minister in his 50s, but our family was always very involved in our church.

Thanks!

This is a great article.

Thanks for posting, I agree. Just read the whole article. I especially like point 2 and point 4. From the article:

"Speaking of hypocrites, I’m going to be very frank with you: I simply don’t believe most progressives actually care that Josh Duggar touched his sisters when he was 14. I don’t believe they are upset about it, or that it offends them, or that they are morally troubled by it. I don’t believe them. I just don’t."

This was the exact point I was trying to make at the beginning of this thread, and why I asked a pp if they actually watched the show, and if they did, why. I totally agree that nobody on here criticizing the duggars give a damn about what josh did, all they care about is acting outraged so they can talk about how they were right for hating them all along. It's really, really sad.

Can't handle that you almost read something that challenges your beliefs and opinions? That's the difference between you and I, I actually think it's smart to read a variety of opinions and news sources. I don't get angry when somebody disagrees with me and I'm perfectly happy to have a discussion with that person and consider why they think the way they do. I'm not as insecure as you are, I guess. I can read Fox News, cnn, NBC, abc, cbs, and all the other liberal approved news sources without getting upset and angry.

Not that PP. Nope, not much to say in response. I think the Quiverful movement in general is extremely harmful to everyone in it. I think the Duggars are not a model family. I'm really sad for them, that that happened and that they chose to deal with it by starting a reality show. The poor girls and poor Josh. They were all let down by their parents.

I don't think you're being sincere, because if you really were sad for them, you wouldn't be participating in this conversation that is 90% negative comments and judgment about the family.

So, why are you here if you think it's only naysayers? You have no idea who's here, or why. If it's so objectionable to you to hear people disparaging the Duggars, why don't you start a thread of your own? The fact that you think that "progressives" don't care about the victims and are merely rolling around in glee is unbelievably immature.

Why am I an idiot? Because I'm too stupid to go along with whatever you say is right? If you are so much smarter, you'd write at least one reason why I'm an idiot, but all you did was +1000 to show you agree with someone else. How smart are you?

Hey PP,

I watched The Duggars for years. It was interesting to me because I am an only child with an atheist father and a mother who was raised religiously herself but never took me to church. Their story was interesting to me. Their lifestyle was interesting to me. Their family was interesting to me. I thought some of their ideas were outdated, but I also thought they were good people and pretty harmless. Dare I say I enjoye watching their family.

I am disgusted. I am outraged. I care about what Josh did to those little girls. I give a damn about what Josh did, and it isn't just because I want something to be outraged about. It's because what he did was wrong.
