Not sure how that will be a W...

What leverage do these right wingers think they have?

I have to jump in here, just to correct that center-left nomenclature. No, compared to other developed countries, US Democrats are barely centrist. US Republicans are far-right politicians, with a truly lunatic fringe that goes beyond right/left definitions. Thus the USA leans mostly right, and in many parts of the country, is extremely conservative.

- European. Most of our right-wing parties are reasonable compared to yours.

Which ones? Your right wing parties in Italy, UK, and France are nuts.

Shutting government down, to win optics for the base, with minimal pain to employees, is a win. A two week shutdown would be annoying but not painful.

What the PP meant (quite obviously, I thought), is that wherever the middle is in the US, the majority of the country (or the largest block of voters) is center left. Not sure I agree with that, but that's beside the point. That's (again, quite obviously) the relevant point here here - how the US compares to any given European country is completely irrelevant.

Also, as others PPs have said, LOL at the notion that European right wing parties are within shouting distance of "reasonable."

I’m not sure it can be characterized as anything other than center-left.

Or disaster relief, unfortunately. Hopefully that gets thru later.

But does this mean we're having the same thread in 60 days?
