Arl Dems Caucus Endorsement - School Board - In the Candidates' Words

From the Arl Dems results page...
Arlington Democrats undertook an extensive program of community outreach, including the distribution of over 25,000 door hangers to inform voters about voting locations and schedules

1,336 votes!

The kid got more than I expected especially considering he barely campaigned. Obviously there was little enthusiasm for either candidate if turnout was the lowest in recent years.

I thought the turnout and the amount of support for the kid is rather embarassing for Miranda.

People didn't like the candidates so they didn't vote.

OR, people knew this was going to be a blowout and just stayed home. I'm not sure why people are spinning a 50-point margin of victory as some embarrassment, except for the fact they don't appreciate a sharp turn towards competence on the SB.

Turnout is largely driven by how many voters the candidates can bring to the table. A few hundred voters (say 300) are ArlDem diehards that are guaranteed to turnout. The rest Miranda brought out because Angelo brought no one to table. Not necessarily a knock on him but he just moved here so he doesn’t really have a network.

More vitriol towards the school board from Miranda’s camp. Why does she attract so much nasty?

So embarrassing for ACDC. They endorsed a Youngkin supporter.

1000+ votes for Miranda would have won it in any year in past 10 years where the caucus was held without online or mail-in (and not at same time as county board).

She only had 1000 supporters come out. It shows how little support she and AEM have.

I think around 1300 or so votes is average for these contests over the years. I counted votes a few years back. Turnout is never high.

For those of you opposed to Miranda, particularly the hateful people who have posted personal attacks against her and her husband, I'd suggest now is the time to set aside your pitchforks and find opportunities to work as a community to improve our schools. If 1/5th the time of everyone on this forum was put toward that end, maybe we could make some improvements.

Put another way, 3 in 4 caucus voters wanted MT (or anyone) over Angelo.

Are Miranda's hateful supporters going to stop their attacks on parents, teachers, angelo supporters, school board members?
