So yes, the text message chain was crafted by law enforcement but on the basis of testimony by the boyfriend about a real conversation that happened.

Seems like it would be pretty easy to get that thrown out of the case if that were true. This FBI and DOJ are so incompetent that this kid will probably end up in an elected position by the time the trial is over.

Doesn’t even matter. The boyfriend already told FBI Tyler told him he did it. And that he planned to do it. His images are captured on site. His DNA is on items from the crime scene. They don’t even need the actual text messages.

Tyler admitted it to the 20 friends in his Discord group. The police and even the media have seen those messages. 20 people ain’t keeping a secret and jointly destroying evidence. Discord has copies of those chats.

Agree there are gay conservatives/Republicans. There are also people who are anti-abortion liberal/Democrats. People get pigeon-holed too much today. The mentality is if you are / support x, then you must be this. However, people are complex, have beliefs/opinions on a multitude of things that may align with different groups, some groups that may oppose the other.

Whatever the shooter is, he seemingly became the black sheep in his family and not because of his sexual preferences. Could be he was right of MAGA or far left of it politically.

He doesn’t read MAGA at all to me FWIW. He could be vanilla conservative or liberal. To me, he seems like a liberal-thinking convert (maybe not on everything) and like any convert, political, religious or whatever, he was at the devout/rigid thinking stage.

The problem today is that people cannot accept hearing something that they find offensive. They have become intolerant and prefer to live in their own bubbles. Modern life allows them to live this way even in densely populated areas. You don’t have to shield yourself in the backwoods a la the Unibomber, Ted Kazinski.

Do we know anything about the shooter’s partner politically? Or more importantly, what they have to say about the shooter’s political views? I suspect the shooter’s outlook was evolving, even if at the time of the shooting he felt strongly one way or another like a convert.
