Empathy is an internal process of acknowledging someones situation or experiences that requires the ability to relate to someone and/or "step into another persons shoes". Theres cognitive empathy, emotional empathy and action based on empathy.

Empathy is saying I cannot imagine raising children in that type of environment and how would I feel if my children had to be raised there and were risking their lives and what I wouldnt do to protect my kids and get them food. Kirk was great at doing that. He made it seem like any rebuttal was being cruel or misunderstanding or taking it out of context. In this case, he meant what he said. Empathy is bad because its for others who dont look like you or act like you and requires you to be compassionate.
