Because you think it’s possible they were co-conspirators with the shooter or because you think they just weren’t well trained and competent?

Someone here is just obsessed with the bodyguards.

You all are burning down the constitution.

And looting the Treasury.

BS. Your side literally murders people for disagreeing.

Your side shot Democratic lawmakers and their families in their homes and firebombed the Pennsylvania governor’s residence while they slept. Get off your high horse.

What democratic lawmakers?

Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman.

And there is not a peep on this board about the Pennsylvania police who were murdered by a MAGA because...MAGA. "back the blue" my a$$

How do you know he’s MAGA?

DP. That we don’t know much of anything about that guy yet—except that he’s yet another male shooter in his 20s—speaks volumes. A dude with an AR-15 raised in York County, PA, is probably not Antifa.

Most likely he's not MAGA or Antifa - he's a lone wolf. It's pretty sick how both sides are so quick to assume he's on the other team (and I say this as someone who is sick and tired of that BoThSiDeS poster who pops up in so many threads).

So I think I figured out what’s going on with the text messages.

We know that the shooter is not cooperating with authorities, has a lawyer, and allegedly destroyed his phone, clothing, and other evidence. So the police are getting information only from the boyfriend.

My theory is that the boyfriend received messages from the shooter and, in a moment of panic, either erases the messages or wiped his own phone. If the messages were end-to-end encrypted, they should be impossible to recover. If the messages were sent over an app rather than SMS texting, then the mobile service provider would not have anything to provide to authorities.

So the boyfriend relays the content of the text conversation with the shooter to the police. And now Utah police have put together a stylized transcript based on the testimony of the boyfriend. And this is what gets released to the public as part of the charging documents, because they are in a rush to release information. Recovering encrypted data from a mobile phone could take days or even weeks.

The police compile the stylized transcript, they let the boyfriend review it, and he says “Sure, that’s close enough” since he can’t remember every verbatim word or detail.

This would dovetail with Patel’s weird remark that they know of the shooter writing some sort of manifesto, but do not have access to it. If it’s encrypted and was deleted, it’s done-zo.

So yes, the text message chain was crafted by law enforcement but on the basis of testimony by the boyfriend about a real conversation that happened.

Yea, feels like a lot of what's out there is fabricated theater to try this in the court of public opinion even if real evidence remains sketchy and dubious. I wonder if they have a judge already lined up to deal with this, otherwise they could end up with a mistrial

The police released more than necessary or typical to influence public opinion. Law enforcement wants the public to accept that the right person is being prosecuted. It seems likely that their real evidence is solid. Presumably, they have the gun with prints and DNA. The family can testify that they recognize the gun and that he made a statement against interest confession to them. The texts are a nice touch and bolster premeditation but the fact that he drove as far as he did is enough for premeditation.

The shooter had his own thoughts on Kirk and was impulsive. He will regret this for the rest of his life and ruined the lives of all Kirk’s family and friends and his own family and friends. I equate this to suicide attempts— most are impulsive. He may have planned to kill Kirk, but he was acting on an anger impulse. He most likely affiliated very liberal on certain things like transgender issues since he had a transgender partner.

Talked to a prosecutor last night about this. He called it a "speaking indictment." I'm no legal eagle. He said that that all that is really necessary is who is charged and what he is charged with. However, it is normal to release information like this to the public so that they understand that the prosecutors do have the information. And, remember, that the defense will have access to this information and process.

This is not a conspiracy theory. This was a cold blooded murder.

I doubt that anyone is going to legitimately be convinced that he was some left wing shooter, but the defense is likely going to talk a lot about how his extremist right wing upbringing damaged his psyche.

I will engage with you, troll, against my better judgement. No one here that isn't MAGA is "infuriated." We're just not buying the "lefty" branding. Most human beings are complex and hold many conflicting opinions and beliefs. You can be raised in a Mormon, conservative, MAGA household, support 2A, and STILL hold some progressive views on things like gender/sexual identity. You can also be conservative MAGA and be gay or trans.

+1 and his behavior tracks with mental health issues.

Charlie Kirk did not love this country. He hated this country.
He hated that women have the same rights as men and that black people have the same job opportunities as white people.
He hated that gay people are allowed to live freely.
He hated religious freedom.
The only thing we know he didn't hate is gun violence, because kids dying in their classrooms meant the Second Amendment was alive and well.
Those are his documented positions, spoken proudly over and over again.
If you're sad that this happened, fine, but don't try to pretend Kirk was anything but a snake oil salesman

I’m convinced everyone thinks he is except people staunchly left (because they feel it reflects poorly on their party). But it doesn’t. He was left for sure- but way out there. It doesn’t take complex analysis to put together a kid that is gay, has a trans partner, has split with parents’ political feelings (which are conservative/right), feels compelled to murder a prominent conservative figure bc he finds him “hateful” isn’t maga/right

He also hated other people’s having the right to free speech.

The only part of his parents’s MAGA belief system that we know he parted ways with is that it’s a sin to be LGBTQ and public policies should reflect that. He didn’t like their religious based views on gays and trans people — and that Charlie Kirk agreed with his parents. We don’t know of any other MAGA position that he disagreed with.

I thought scoping out roofs and high points or trees was table stakes for event security. Especially after the Trump roof shooting summer 2024.
