| Honestly, what do you think when you see them - your first impressions? I've always liked short hair on women but my dad once said that it makes women look lazy about their appearances. I've always worn my hair medium long to long but with two little kids and very little spare time (my hair is thick and wavy/frizzy and it takes about 30 minutes to blow out), I am serious considering cutting mine short but feminine - like the way Charlize Theron used to wear it. Thoughts and opinions? |
| I love it! I think women look sexy!! |
|
your dad is sexist and out of date
cut your hair short if you want to screw everyone else |
| I think they're women who like short haircuts. Not all women need to have long hair. Not all women look good with long hair! You do what suits you and don't worry about it. |
| Depends on the cut, some look great and sophisticated while some look matronly. If you trust your stylist, go for it. |

It totally depends on the woman. I have a round face adn would look horrible with short hair....
It can look very severe on some ppl and ages them. On others---it looks absolutely fabulous. Just pick a cut that flatters your face and body type. Halle Berry always looked fantastic with short hair. I would think it would cause me to have to dress with more style or add some make-up to avoid looking to manly or frumpy. Most men are like that about long hair. My husband would hate it if I cut mine off anywhere above my shoulders--it rests just on top of them. My dad sounds just like yours --he hated my mom's short hair for years (actually so did I-it didn't flatter her). She now has a bob and looks so much better.

It depends on the cut and how you present yourself.
You could sloppy (but so too with long hair) and butch. You could very chic and fashionable. You could look 10 years older. or younger. |
| It depends on the cut and the person, but I think a lot of times short hair looks more stylish than long hair. I'm not talking about dowdy grandma hair helmets, but cute bobs or the like. I have long hair right now and I enjoy it, but I think I usually look more polished when my hair is short. Did you see Michelle Williams's pixie cut on Vogue (I think it was Vogue) a few months back? She looked like Mia Farrow and it was gorgeous. |
| I think your dad is funny. I think a woman with longer hair in a scruffy ponytail looks a lot lazier than a cute cut. Took my a few months with a newborn to figure this out, then I cut mine. |
| I had very short hair when I met my husband--boy short. For the last 10 years or so I've kept it around chin length, because that's most flattering for me. Any longer and it's not thick enough, it just looks scraggly. But he STILL goes on about how I should grow my hair out. Ass. We have a baby girl now and he better not pull this shit on her. |

If it's feminine and chic, it looks great. I'm thinking of Halle Berry, Meg Ryan and Audrey Hepburn.
I don't like the extremely short lesbian-chic sort of thing. |
| If your hair is wavy frizzy will cutting it short save time? Will the humidity in the summer make it a pouf ball? Some length might be easier to tame, unless you are going to curl it. |
| Luckily for me, my DH is totally supportive of me cutting it off. 13:55 - your comment cracked me up. My dad is actually a total ass but he planted the seed of doubt in my mind nonetheless. Ironically, he said it to me right after my first DC was born, when I was planning on cutting it short the first time. Now that I have two, I am SUPER tired of the scraggly ponytail that stays wet in the middle all day long, which is better than trying to entertain and watch two children while blowing my hair out. 13:59 brings up a though - where does one find a good stylist for a short haircut? |
| OP again -- 14:24, wouldn't the right product take care of the frizzies? I don't plan on having much hair to actually blow-out... |
14:24 here -the right product should, but for me shorter hair meant more styling time, although it might just be my hair And no, I don't wear a pony tail.
