I think from a distance, it's easier at a first impression for women with long hair to look beautiful. But up close, the right haircut works miracles and the wrong one reaks havoc. Long or short. Unless you throw in beer.
That being said, I have a very short cut right now, and it does reflect my attitude of "I could give a crap what other people think." It's not I've let myself go attitude, it's more of the I have more important things to worry about then being mistaken for a lesbian (which would have been a concern in my single days).
My husband thinks it looks good (which seems to be everyone's concern after I got it cut, because you know, at age 40 I should ask my husband permission to cut my hair) and I think I look much better with shorter hair that is easy to style then longer, always looked like crap hair. I fully admit I'm not Halle Berry, but I wasn't her with long hair either
