Why is Blake Lively so overrated?

She just seems so snotty and smug.

Both. I think she overreacted/distorted the original complaints. I also think that Baldoni and the other guy could have been gross (but not sexually harassing) in doing things like wanting to add additional sex scenes that were not necessary. I think she never wanted Baldoni to be on the film and took advantage of an opening to sideline him. and I think even after being successful in that, she set out to publicly humiliate him right as the film was being marketed. Then I think he went too far in retaliating against all of that, and is likely liable.

I agree that some of the issues in the legal complaint could be overstated - it was written by her lawyers in the service of advocating for their client - but I disagree that stuff like improvising extra physical contact in an intimate scene that she wasn’t expecting, hiring Baldoni’s friend (rather than a real actor) to play her OB and stick his head between her legs during a birth scene, and entering her trailer uninvited when she was undressed is “gross behavior.” It’s sexual harassment and it shouldn’t be tolerated in any workplace.

This stuff is pretty easily verifiable (allegedly multiple witnesses) so if it’s true, I don’t care if her lawyers engaged in a little puffery to describe how egregious it was. It’s bad.

Is it right that there are also allegations that he was talking about her and Ryan’s porn viewing? That’s also wildly inappropriate. I think a lot of actors and other artists just don’t know how to behave in a professional environment. I think I heard SAG was doing trainings after 2017 to try and make sure everyone is on the same page about what’s normal professional behavior.

Yes, the complaint states that he referenced porn and his porn addiction on multiple occasions and also asked her if she watched porn. And then announced her answer (no) to others. And that the other producer showed her (without asking permission or providing any warnings) a video of his wife giving birth while naked, apparently to direct her to act similarly in the birth scene. The examples are really insane.

I agree with you that this stuff crosses the line, even if maybe standards of professional conduct are a little looser in a movie studio vs. in a corporate office. It’s really not acceptable.

Ugh ugh ugh.

I worked in a place like this. Also in the entertainment industry and yes, people use the fact that they are "artists" to justify a bunch of garbage behavior (in reality I actually am an artist and the people who did this stuff were just weird grifters who work in entertainment specifically because it's a good place to hide when you have serious personality or mental health issues and can't hack it in a traditional work environment). I HATED it. The constant discussion of sex and sex acts, and then acting like you're weird or a prude if you politely decline discussing your sex life at work. Lots of inappropriate touching and intimate conversations passed off as "the culture" of the industry.

Nope. I've worked plenty of professional places full of artists who take their work seriously and also have boundaries. There are situations where you might take down those boundaries in order to create art but that's always consensual and it's not going to happen like this, with some jacka$$ shoving a video of his naked wife in your face and telling you to do what she's doing (wtf).

Like Blake Lively, don't like her, I really don't care. That is not okay behavior and we need to reiterate it for the people in the back of the room because a LOT of people in this industry still don't get it. Grow. Up. and learn to behave like a professional adult in a workplace.

This exaggerated crap registers at about a 1 maybe 2 out of 10 on the Hollywood degeneracy scale. There’s no there there. And what precisely do you all mean by “he should have settled”? Was or is this some sort of financial shake down? Is she trying to muscle a cut of the $300+ million box office? If he’s such a predator why wouldn’t she want this all on the floor?

The desperation is palpable. Justin is cooked snd his career is over.

It’s ultimately about Reynolds wanting the rights to the books and Justin refusing to sell them. That’s what this is about and always has been.

Blake, is that you?! Put the Aviation gin down and go play with your kids.

You are obviously one of Ms. Nathan's paid trolls.

“All of this will be most importantly untraceable,” she wrote.

That PP is so obvious about it. Claims to know nothing about any of this then rattles off the smear campaign talking points.

You’re gaslighting. Look, most of the public, including me, has no freaking clue who that producer actor man is. Most of the public never saw this movie they were in together. And yet, most of the public simply dislikes Blake Lively. People can think for themselves. People trust their gut and instincts. She simply doesn’t seem like a nice person, she can’t act to save her life, and she’s been shoved in our faces for 20 years as this supposed it girl. It all feels extremely fake, like she benefitted from a lot of insider help. And this new scorched earth victim campaign pivot as she approaches 40 years old isn’t going to change anyone’s mind about her. Hollywood is a sleazy place and the public simply doesn’t care. In case you weren’t aware, normal Americans can’t afford groceries right now and their student loans have to be repaid. Nobody gives a damn about some filthy rich arrogant actress. And it obviously doesn’t help that she and her husband are also obnoxious common opportunists.

I don't know who that man is either but I read the complaint and boy does he sound like an ass! Maybe you should read it too. I only read the first sentence of your blah blah desperate to change the narrative post. Stay trolling.

Of course he sounds like an ass in her complaint. And when Justin files his own, Blake will sound like one. That’s the way these documents work, if the parties have good lawyers.

Look, I don’t know what happened. I’m not interested in this movie or the drama. What I am interested in is sociology. And I’m seeing people who piled on Blake a few months ago now piling on Justin, because they read a NYT article and feel silly that they were caught up in this and mocked by a PR firm. They’re doing the same thing they did months ago, just flipped. Except they’re doing it with extra fervor because they were made to feel bad. But they don’t see it. It’s fascinating.

It’s ok. You seem to have a very low IQ. This must be hard to comprehend.

I’m just a lawyer who knows that everyone’s claim makes the opposing party look bad. That’s the whole point.

What’s this photo supposed to prove? Harvey Weinstein was one of the most powerful producers in Hollywood until his arrest. You can probably dig up a photo like this for any Hollywood star who was active around the same time.

The behavior that’s described in the complaint is sexual harassment. We’ll see if Baldoni denies any of it, and if so, what comes out in discovery, but if these allegations are true, she’s absolutely entitled to go public about it and sue for sexual harassment and the subsequent smear campaign that Baldoni allegedly orchestrated to discredit her.

If there are other reasons for her choice to bring the lawsuit (like obtaining the rights to the sequel or whatever people are speculating) - and there very well might be - so be it. It doesn’t seem like she’s making up these allegations, and the conduct described in and of itself is unacceptable and disgusting and illegal. I am all for her taking down someone who created this kind of work environment.

I think both of these things are true. It is clear a lot of people have problems with Blake just because of all the over exposure and things lately. But the smear campaign took advantage of this. I feel like they lit a match and people just piled on. But I think without them, it wouldn’t have been as bad. They’re definitely would’ve been backlash, I mean there was backlash against her even being cast in this role from the start. But it wouldn’t have been this bad.

It's a big story. It exposes what people have suspected all along with regards to PR campaigns. To see if all laid out in texts is surprising. It's also surprising to Abel and Nathan who never thought those texts would see the light of day.
