My 60ish coworker was lamenting the Czech neighborhood that used to be in our city and said "I don't know what happened to all those people. I guess they moved to the suburbs or something" and I said "They mixed with everyone else! Do you know how many 1/4 Czech people are out there? Like myself?"
They got no government assistance. That's the difference people care about.

He was talking about school shooting VICTIMS but he missed a word in thar sentence.

We all knew what he meant. He was talking about meeting with parents of the Sandy Hook shooting. He has met with victims.

That's cool, doesn't mean we are at our foundation a nation of immigrants and should allow for mass immigration now. None of this means that immigration never happened. Just means that plenty of us are not immigrants or descendant from immigrants, and do not have warm fuzzy feeling about immigration.

Why won't you answer which tribal nation you belong to?

Yes, the ones that came in the 1600s (not 16th century) formed the nation and government of the USA. Yes, including the slaves. They and their their descendants are not immigrants.

My great-grandparents got no government assistance and they lived squalid lives. 10 people in a tiny 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom house. Lots of drinking and probably not a little bit of violence. Would have been greatly helped by some government assistance.

Nope. The came from elsewhere. There were other people who were already here at that point. They were immigrants.
