Please stop acting like this team actually beat THE WC Eagles. They beat what was probably their lowest team, and most likely a much younger team. They do not take even remotely their top team to this showcase. It's only for players who haven't committed. Since the couple of 2024s have left, unfortunately, WW is not left with super strong players right now (despite one high school hyping up a player who could not get any D1 looks). It's a nice program, but you just look silly going on about beating WC. |
WC does not take committed players to these showcases. This is per their own coaches and parents. And they have something like 6 teams at Shooting Stars. It’s not their top team. A win is a win. But let’s not pretend it’s a big deal when it’s not. |
^ you don’t need to play for an elite club to get recruited. But you definitely need to be one of the favorites. In the DMV, parents will pay just about any amount that is required of them. |
This is a fact. |
Agree. Favorites is key. |
This is untrue. Know of at least one player who is a Princeton commit playing for WC who is playing at Shooting Stars this weekend. |
I always hear about clubs not sending their recruited players to these showcases and this is absolutely not true. They play because the bottom line is the club wants to win and coaches need their help to make their non-recruited players look good. These are facts but feel free to disagree and disparage whatever club your DD doesn’t play for. |
How do you know so much about the club and how they practice? Were you (or your kid?) affiliated with them at some point? If you were choosing a club fora U16 player in the DC area, which one would you choose? |
Ok. Maybe there are exceptions but take what I said in the pp to the club. It’s them that said the don’t. |
All players at the big/successful clubs (like WC) in my DDs position who committed ONLY went to NIT/RCC/NCC. Not to showcases unless there was no one at the position (like GK). |
I think we can all agree that the Wolves victory over WC post did not age well. It’s the only game they have won so far, and that WC team might be the only team in the entire U 19 to go 0-4. |
WW u19 stacked with committed players and still can’t win their pool (lower tier) and have not won any major regional or national level tournament in the past few years. Committed players to Columbia, Syracuse, Farfield, BU, Davidson, Lafayette, Amherst, Longwood. Also, the team has so many players, the lower tiered players were combined with another club to play at this tournament not coached by WW or under WW team name. So clearly it was WW top team. You would think if the goal like WC eagles is for players who are uncommitted to showcase, WW would have left their committed players at home so the other players could play under the WW name along with a team they practice with and be coached by WW coaches versus be out in a random team or stand on the sidelines “cheering” or as the coach would say “learning by watching the better players” play. |
I didn’t study the local teams at SS Thanksgiving in depth, but a quick look at standings and scores tells me that none of the local teams are dominating their pools. There are absolutely committed players at SS Thanksgiving playing for their clubs. Should they just stop competing once they are committed, no. They still want to improve their game and this is an opportunity to do so.
The way some of the posters disparage players and clubs speaks volumes about them as humans. Just stop. I’m not sure if it is a misery loves company situation or what, but I ignore those posters. |
U19 Freedom and U19 Xtreme (1 tie) are undefeated at SS. U19 Metro and U19 Husel (1 tie) are undefeated at Festival. Isn’t U19 WW filled with a bunch of ex-Husel players? Probably explains why they are not winning. Also have heard that those ex-Husel players like to bicker and point fingers on the field. |
Honestly, I would like to see Wolves be the club it was about 8 years ago, but unfortunately, it's full of overhyped average athletes. Other than the Syracuse and Lafayette commits, there are no other current DI commits on that team. |
