| If you eat a sensible diet all week, what do you allow yourself on cheat day(s)? And do you only have one cheat day or more? I just need to cut the three pounds I"ve gained this year. I eat healthy for breakfast and lunch but the evenings and weekends kill me. From my kids' leftover pizza crust to donut holes, I ruin all the work I put into eating healthy from wake up to dinner time. If I could cut that stuff back or out, I think I could easily shave the 3 lbs. My breakfast consists of plain fat-free greek yogurt with a few crushed nuts. Lunch is a salad with veggies, two strawberries, a few cubes of chicken breasts, and balsamic vinegarette. My dinner is usually chicken, lean meat or fish and a veggie. But it's the bedtime snacking and eating my kids' leftovers that get me. I'd still like to to enjoy life so I want to have a cheat day or two. What does that look like for you? Thanks! |
| 3 pounds? Two strawberries? Yeah, not feeding this obsessiveness. |
| Three pounds is silly. Let your default be NOT eating pizza crust, donuts, whatever, and then occasionally have a little if it’s really special. |
| You're not eating enough for breakfast and lunch. That's why you are gobbling everything at dinner time. |
Yep. That is why you are weak in the face of cravings. |

On my cheat day, usually Saturday, I order a pizza with onions, mushrooms, and jalapenos, and eat it all by myself over the course of the evening. It feels great, and I sleep so well that night with a full stomach.
I also run at least 10 miles earlier in the day on Saturday. If I were trying to lose weight I could do it easily by avoiding dinner after my runs, but I'd rather eat pizza. I'm fine with what I weigh. OP, do you exercise? A long, hard run feels as good as eating, just in a different way. Why not just do both? |
How are you able to eat a whole pizza after dieting all week? |
| Today I had three cups of popcorn (the serving on the bag), three oreos and a sweet tea. |
| I should have said that I am only 4'11" and 105 lbs. I know I don't HAVE to lose 3 lbs but 102 is my comfortable weight....where my mom bulge is not so noticeable. Being as petite as I am 3 lbs makes a difference. I had a great exercise routine at 5am in the morning before work in the basement. But our basement flooded in July and we are still putting it back together. Our house is small so there's really no where else in the house to exercise at that time without waking everyone up. And evenings are not possible due to my kids' activities....so all of that to say I have fallen off the exercise wagon. The basement will be back together by Christmas (fingers crossed). In the meantime, I need to cut back on eating to make up for it. |
So messed up. |

Not a huge fan of some of the disordered eating habits being discussed in this thread, but I guess I do allow myself to "relax" in terms of eating on the weekends. I'll go out to dinner with friends, have wine or cider, enjoy a dessert, etc.
However, I also usually exercise a lot more on the weekends because I have more time. I love trail running, so I'll often hit the trails and do a nice long run on the weekends if the weather is nice. I also enjoy climbing, so I might do a session at the climbing wall. So, that stuff might balance out my more lax eating habits on the weekend. I try not to overthink it, though. |
| I don't have a cheat day. I find it encourages me to cheat. |
| I have snack, dessert everyday , within my daily calories limit, feel much better this way |
|
A) try more protein a lunch, more than just a few chicken cubes.
B) have a snack between lunch and dinner. And I don't mean carrot sticks, have a couple freakin' cookies if you want. C) three pounds is NOTHING. |

Eating a whole pizza, gross.
By “cheat” I ordered whatever meal and wine I want if I’m in a good restaurant and enjoy it, stopping promptly when I’m feeling feel. Cheat day does not mean binge eating. Or I may have a piece of homemade dessert I made for my family on a weekend. |
